Uusimmat tiedot perjantain (viikonlopun) myrskystä; huomenna ei tuule niin kovaa kuin miltä aikaisemmin näytti. Etelä-lounaistuuli on kuitenkin merkittävää ja voi paikoin aiheuttaa vähäistä tuhoa. Puutuhoja voi tulla etenkin sen takia, kun tuulen mukana sataa runsaasti märkää ja tarttuvaa lunta, millä on taipumusta painaa joitakin puita (etenkin havupuut) tuulen suuntaan. Näyttää siltä, että myös etelärannikolla sade tulee enimmäkseen lumena - räntänä leudosta säästä huolimatta. Eilen esim. Helsingin lumet sulivat tavallaan kahteen kertaan vesi- ja lumisateen vuoroteltua, mutta sisämaassa lumipeite vahvistui paikoin useilla senteillä (kelikamerat); muodostui joulukuulle tyypillinen ero lumipeitteisiin näiden alueiden välille meren lämmittävän vaikutuksen takia (ennätyksellisen sula Suomenlahti). Asiaan vaikutti myös matalapaineen reitti. Huomenna myös etelärannikko saattaa saada vahvan lumipeitteen.
Huomisesta eteen päin lauha säätyyppi (lämpötilat nollassa ja vähän sen yläpuolella) jatkuu ja myös lauantaina - sunnuntaina on ajoittain erittäin tuulista. Edelleen saadaan sateita ja ne tulevat kaikissa olomuodoissa; hyvin märkä, loskainen ja kurja viikonloppu on siis tulossa sään suhteen Etelä-Suomessa. Viikonlopun jälkeen sää yrittää olla vähän talvisempi pienen pakkasen kera korkeapaineen selänteen takia, mutta sen viikon loppupuolella leudot länsi - lounaistuulet näyttäisivät ottavan jälleen vahvan otteen moneksi päiväksi ja huomenna muodostuva lumipeite olisi taas vaarassa sulaa pois etenkin rannikkoseuduilta ja mahdollisesti jopa laajalti sisämaastakin...
Päivitys 1.2.2006 klo. 16:35: Tämän päivän sään kehitys oli melkein samanlainen kuin 24. tammikuuta olleen myrskyn aikana; näyttävä aamurusko ennen märkää lumipyryä. Tämän päivän elementit olivat kuitenkin heikompia kuin 24. tammikuuta; aamurusko kesti lyhyemmän ajan ja lunta tuli pääkaupunkiseudulla vain noin 1 cm. Tuulikaan ei ollut yhtä voimakasta.
The newest information about the friday's (weekend's) storm; tomorrow it won't be so windy as what it looked like earlier. However, the southerly-southwesterly wind will be significant and it may cause locally minor damage. Tree damages may appear especially due to the fact, that there will be coming a lot of wet and grabbing snow with the wind, which has a tendency to press some trees (especially conifer trees) along to the direction of the wind. It appears to be the fact, that the precipitation will come mainly as snow - sleet also by the southern coast despite the mild weather. Yesterday for example in Helsinki snow melted away two times in a way as rain and snowing alternated, but in inland areas snowcover got thicker locally for several centimetres (weather cameras); there formed a difference typical for December to the snowcovers between these areas due to the warming effect of the sea (record unfrozen The Gulf Of Finland). The path of the low pressure influenced as well to the matter. Tomorrow the southern coast as well might be getting a thick snowcover.
From tomorrow onwards the mild weather type (temperatures at zero C and a bit above it) will continue and it will be occasionally very windy also during saturday - sunday. There will further be precipitation and it will come in all forms; so, a very wet, slushy and miserable weekend is coming weatherwise in southern Finland. After the weekend the weather will try to be a bit more wintry with minor frost due to a ridge of high pressure, but during that week's latter part mild westerly - southwesterly winds would appear to take a firm hold again for many days and the snowcover forming tomorrow would be in danger to melt away again especially by the coastal regions and perhaps even largely in inland areas as well...
Update at the 1st of February 2008 at 4:35 PM: This day's weather development was allmost the same as during the storm at the 24th of January; a showy sunrise colours before a wet blizzard. However, this days elements were weaker than the ones at the 24th of January; the sunrise colours lasted a shorter time and there came only about 1 cm of snow around the capital city area (Helsinki). Winds weren't equally as strong either.
