Viljelysäätiedotus laiskuuden keskellä - A cultivation weather report in the middle of lazyness

Olen ollut viime aikoina laiska kaikissa näissä nettihommissani ja arboretumprojektissani, koska on välillä hyvä suunnata energiaansa muualle ja ottaa myös rennommin. Ehkä vielä jokusen hetken jatkan samaan malliin, mutta palaan nyt kertomaan lyhyesti uusimpia tietoja tulevasta viljelysäästä.

Hyvin viileä sää on jatkunut näihin päiviin asti, mutta onneksi runsas pilvisyys on ehkäissyt hallaa osassa Etelä-Suomea kahden viime yön aikana. Näin on käynyt esim. Helsingin seudulla. Päivälämpötilat ovat nousseet tänään paikoin +15 asteen lähelle. Jatkossa lännessä ja luoteessa oleva korkeapaine lähtee siirtymään hitaasti Suomen ylle, mutta Etelä-Suomi säilyy viikon loppuun asti korkeapaineen viileämmällä sivulla; itä - koillistuulia. Tämän takia sää lämpenee hitaasti, mutta viimeistään viikonloppuna on mahdollisuuksia yli +15 asteen päivälämpötiloihin. Samalla säilyy silti riski iltapäiväkuuroille monena päivänä etenkin sisämaassa ja öisin on edelleen hallanvaara pilvisyyden mukaan vaihdellen. Ensi viikolla saattaa olla mahdollisuus kunnollisen kesäsään paluuseen; yli +20 asteen päivälämpötiloja ja hallanvaara poistuu...

Kasvukauden eteneminen on ollut tässä viileässä säässä hyvin hidasta. Yhtäältä se on ollut hyvä asia, koska kasvivalokuvausprojektissani on sen myötä ollut rauhallinen vaihe. Kasvukausi on edelleen viileästä säästä huolimatta noin viikon edellä tavanomaisesta aikataulusta; tuomi (Prunus padus) ja terttuselja (Sambucus racemosa) kukkivat edelleen. Omenapuut (Malus domestica), balkaninhevoskastanjat (Aesculus hippocastanum) ja pihasyreenit (Syringa vulgaris) ovat aloittamassa ja osin aloittaneet kukintaansa. Näkyvissä oleva lämpeneminen voi mahdollistaa näiden aloittavien kukkijoiden täyden kukinnan jo tämän kuun aikana. Viime aikojen pakkasten koko vaikutus esim. omenasatoon jää nähtäväksi myöhemmin...



I have been lazy lately in all these internet tasks of mine and in my arboretum project, because it is every now and then good to direct ones energy elsewhere and take it easy as well. I will continue perhaps a moment or two in the same style yet, but I'll return now to tell latest information about the coming cultivation weather.

The very cool weather has been continuing up to these days, but luckily a profuse cloudiness has prevented ground frost in a part of southern Finland during the last two nights. This has happened for example around Helsinki region. Afternoon temperatures have been gotten locally near +15 C today. In the coming days a high pressure in the west and northwest will start to move over Finland slowly, but southern Finland will remain in the cooler side of the high pressure to the end of the week; easterly - northeasterly winds. Due to this the weather will warm up slowly, but there are possibilities for above +15 C afternoon temperatures at the latest during the weekend. There will remain a risk for afternoon showers, though, during many days especially in inland areas and there will further be a risk for ground frost at nights varying according to cloudiness. During the next week there might be a possibility for the return of a proper summer weather; above +20 C afternoon temperatures and the risk for ground frost will be gone...

The proceeding of the growing season has been very slow in this cool weather. In one hand that has been a good thing, because due to that there has been an easy phase in my plant photography project. The growing season is further about one week ahead of an average schedule despite the cool weather; Bird Cherry (Prunus padus) and Red Elderberry (Sambucus racemosa) are blooming further. Apple trees (Malus domestica), Common Horse-chesnuts (Aesculus hippocastanum) and Common Lilacs (Syringa vulgaris) are starting and partly have started their blooming. The foreseen warmer weather may make the full flowerings of these started bloomers possible already during this month. The whole influence of the recent frosts for example to apple crop will remain to be seen later...

Bloggaamiseni vähennys ja ennätyksellisesti tuleva kesä - The decreasing of my blogging and the summer coming in a record breaking way

Blogikirjoittamisessani on ollut taas taukoa. Elämässäni on ollut viime aikoina muuta ja tulee olemaan (onneksi positiivista) ja olen myös miettinyt projektieni järkeistämistä edelleen. Esim. olen kokenut hankalana arboretumprojektiini liittyvien tehtävien "raportoimispakon" tänne blogiin, mikä on ollut osaltaan psykologisena esteenä tekemisilleni. Niinpä nyt päätin, että kerron vain korkeintaan kuukauden välein tärkeimpiä tehtyjä asioita. Samalla nyt koko kasvukauden ajaksi jätän pois kaikki erikoisartikkeleiden kirjoittamisen. Ainoat säännöllisesti ilmestyvät asiat ovat valokuvaamiseen liittyvät merkinnät, joita on edelleen helppo tehdä rutiinihommina. Helpottavia asioita saattaa siihenkin kuitenkin vielä tulla.

Viljelysäästä kerron myös silloin tällöin (Etelä-Suomi lähinnä elinympäristöissäni). Etenkin, jos on merkittäviä / poikkeavia tilanteita tulossa. Tällä kertaa kertomista on juuri tässä mielessä. Nyt nimittäin on alkamassa erittäin lämmin jakso, joka saattaa kestää hämmästyttävän pitkään. Tämän aiheuttaa Suomen ylle hitaasti tullut korkeapaine, joka asettuu viikonlopusta lähtien Suomen itäpuolelle ja se mahdollistaa siten ajankohtaan nähden erittäin lämpimän kaakkoistuulen. Tämä tilanne saattaa kestää koko ensi viikon ja on merkkejä siitä, että erittäin lämmin kesäsää jatkuisi myös sen jälkeen. Tilanne muistuttaa vuoden 1993 ennätyslämmintä toukokuun alkua.

Lämpötilojen osalta tämä tietää sitä, että koko ensi viikon päivälämpötilat voivat olla +20 asteen tienoilla ja ajoittain jopa selvästi sen yli. Merituuli viilentää rannikoita jonkin verran. Myös yöt lämpenevät useita asteita nollan yläpuolelle viikonlopusta lähtien ja hallanvaara poistuu. Näin terminen kesä alkaa ennätyksellisen aikaisin ensi viikon loppuun mennessä (vuorokauden keskilämpötilat yli +10 astetta vähintään 5 päivää peräkkäin). Ajoittain lännen - lounaan matalapaineet ovat ensi viikon loppuun mennessä sen verran lähellä, että tarvittavia sadekuuroja saadaan jonkin verran. Näin lämpimässä säässä on mahdollisuuksia myös vuoden ensimmäisille ukkosille, joita odotan jo kärkkäästi. Lapissa vielä säilyneet paikoin jopa n. metrin mittaiset lumihanget sulavat sinnekin tulevan lämmön ansiosta ensi viikolla erittäin nopeasti aiheuttaen vakavia tulvatilanteita.

Kasvukauden suhteen tämä merkitsee kasvun nopeutumista tuon vuoden 1993 kaltaiseen ennätyksellisen varhaiseen vaiheeseen toukokuun alun mittaan. Näin ollen ensi viikolla esim. koivujen (Betula sp.), metsävaahteran (Acer platanoides) ja rusokirsikan (Prunus sargentii) kukinnat etenevät erittäin nopeasti huippuunsa. Jopa tuomen (Prunus padus) kukinnan alkua voi odotella jo ensi viikon lopussa lämpimillä kasvupaikoilla. Voi hyvin myös olla, että jo ennen Vappua ensimmäisiä nurmikoita leikataan lämpimillä paikoilla ennätyksellisen varhain. Tämän lämmön takia kasvivalokuvausprojektissani on nyt tulossa poikkeuksellisen haasteellinen vaihe. Tälläiseenkin ilmastonmuutos on meitä viemässä yhä selvemmin.



There has been a pause again in my blog writing. There have been other things in my life recently and will be (luckily positive things) and I have also pondered a further rationalization of my projects. For example I have been experiencing difficulty in the "must to report" in this blog the tasks associating my arboretum project, which has been partly as a psychological barrier against my doings. Therefore I decided now, that at the most I will tell only in monthly intervalls the most important done matters. At the same time now for the whole growing season I will leave the writing of all special articles away. The only regularly published matters will be the posts associating the photography, which are further easy to do in a routine way. However, there might be coming releafing matters to that as well yet.

I will tell about cultivation weather as well every now and then (southern Finland mainly in my life regions). Especially in the cases, where there are coming significant / unusual situations. At this time there are things to tell about just in this regard. Namely, now there are starting a very warm period, which might be lasting for an astonishingly long time. This is caused by the high pressure moved slowly over Finland. It will settle to the eastern side of Finland from the weekend onwards and it will therefore make possible an unusually warm southeasterly wind considering the time of the year. This situation might be lasting the whole next week and there are signs, that a very warm summer weather would continue after that as well. The situation is resembling the record warm early May in 1993.

Regarding temperatures this will mean the fact, that during all next week afternoon temperatures may be around +20 C and occasionally even clearly above it. By the coastal regions a sea breeze will have somewhat a cooling effect. The nights as well will warm several degrees above zero C from the weekend onwards and the risk of ground frost will go away. This way the thermal summer will start record early until the end of next week (daily average temperatures above +10 C for at least 5 days in the row). Occasionally low pressures of the west - southwest will be near in such a way until the end of next week, that needed showers will appear in some amounts. In this warm weather there will be a possibility for the first thunderstorms of the year as well, which I am waiting eagerly already. In Lapland, thanks to the warmth arriving there as well, yet remained locally even about 1 meter thick snowcovers will melt very fast during next week causing serious flood situations.

Regarding the growing season this will mean during the early May a fastening of the growth into a record early phase resembling that year 1993. In this case during next week that will mean flowerings of for example Birches (Betula sp.), Norway Maple (Acer platanoides) and Sargent Cherry (Prunus sargentii) to be proceeded very fast into their climax. Even the start of Bird Cherry (Prunus padus) blooming can be expected in warm localitys at the end of next week already. It may well be the case as well, that already before The First Of May the first lawns will be mowed in warm places record early. Due to this warmth there will now come an unusually challenging phase in my plant photography project. The climate change is carrying us into this kind as well evermore clearly.

Päätin tehdä lisää helpotusta ja järkeistämistä projekteihini myös valokuvauksen suhteen. Uusi järjestely koskee valokuvien julkaisua luonto- ja sääseurannassa (entinen blogitrilogia): Nyt lopetan myös Maisema - Landscape blogin päivittämisen ja julkaisen ko. kuvat vain Flickr -sivuillani. Kaikkien näiden kolmen kuvasarjateeman (Maisema - Landscape, Taivaankansi - Firmament ja Maan povi - The Bosom Of The Earth) uudistaminen Flickr -sivuilla kuuluu myös asiaan. Tästä lähtien kunkin kuvan otsikot vaihtuvat niin, että kuukauden nimen korvaa kuvaa luonnehtiva otsikko.

Maisema - Landscape; otsikko kuvaa säätilannetta samaan tapaan kuin tähän mennessä (marraskuu 2006) ko. blogissa olleet otsikot. Taivaankansi - Firmament; otsikko kertoo pilvilajin ja kuvaussuunnan. Maan povi - The Bosom Of The Earth; otsikko kuvailee ko. tilannetta lyhytsanaisesti. Joidenkin kuvien alle saatan laittaa lisähuomioita, jos on tarpeen jonkin erikoistilanteen tms. takia. Aloitan otsikoiden tekemisen Maisema - Landscape kuvista ja etenen kohti nykyhetkeä ripeään tahtiin. Voitte seurata työn etenemistä koko ajan, koska pidän kuvat näkyvillä. En laittanut linkkejä tähän, koska kaikki kuvasarjat ovat helposti löydettävissä tämän blogin oikean reunan Flickr -linkin (Mikan valokuvia - Mika's photos) kautta.



I decided to do more relief and rationalization into my projects regarding photography as well. The new order concerns the photo publishing in the weather and nature follow-up (the former blog trilogy): Now I will end the updating of also the blog Maisema - Landscape and I will publish the photos only on my Flickr pages. A renewing of all these photo set themes (Maisema - Landscape, Taivaankansi - Firmament and Maan povi - The Bosom Of The Earth) is also included in the case. From now on the headlines of every photo will change in such a way, that the name of the month will be replaced by a headline characterizing the photo.

Maisema - Landscape; the headline describes the weather situation in the same way as the headlines up to here (November 2006) in the blog in question. Taivaankansi - Firmament; the headline tells the cloud type and the photoshoot direction. Maan povi - The Bosom Of The Earth; The headline describes the situation in question with few words. I might place additional notes under some photos, if it is necessary due to some special situation or other such thing. I will start the making of the headlines from the Maisema - Landscape photos and I will proceed towards the present moment in a fast pace. You can follow the proceeding of the work all the time, because I will keep the photos displayed. I didn't put links here, because all photo sets are found easily via the Flickr link (Mikan valokuvia - Mika's photos) on the right edge of this blog.

Maisema - Landscape päivitys ja pitkäkestoinen pikkutakatalvi - The Maisema - Landscape update and the longlasting minor late wintry weather

Nyt olen päivittänyt sää- ja luontoseurannan blogia Maisema - Landscape. Samalla karsin taas pois liian vaivalloisia työvaiheita päivittämisestä. Tästä eteen päin kuvasarjat Taivaankansi - Firmament ja Maan povi - The Bosom Of The Earth ovat kokonaisina linkkeinä ko. blogissa eikä kuva kuvalta palasina. Käykääpä katsomassa myös muut muutokset. Pahoittelen sitä, että niissä antamissani sääkarttalinkeissä on tässä päivitysjaksossa taas virheitä; toisella arkistosivulla sääkartat ovat osittain sekaisin kronologisesta järjestyksestä. Ärsyttävää!

Supistin myös tekstejä yhä edelleen ko. kuvasarjoissa; nyt pilvien liikkeistä ei ole sanallisia kuvauksia. Sen asian voitte opetella tulkitsemaan pintapainesääkartoista. Nyrkkisääntöinä ovat nämä; rintamiin liittymättömät pilvet kulkevat maan pinnan tuulten mukaan. Tuulen suunta ja voimakkuus luetaan tässä tapauksessa kartan ilmanpainekäyristä, missä tuuli kiertää matalapainetta vastapäivään ja korkeapainetta myötäpäivään suunnilleen ilmanpainekäyrien suuntaisesti. Mitä tiheämmässä käyrät ovat, sitä voimakkaampi tuuli on ja sitä nopeammin pilvet kulkevat ko. paikalla.

Rintamiin liittyvät pilvet etenevät rintamien mukana, mutta yksittäiset pilvien osat liikkuvat siinä myös yläkerrosvirtausten mukaan eri kulmissa ko. rintamaan nähden. Taivaankansi - Firmament -kuvasarjoissa on tästä eteen päin maininnat rintamiin liittyvistä pilvistä. Jos itse lajeista ei ole mainintoja, niin silloin rintamapilvet ovat piilossa alempien pilvien takana ja silloin mainitaan vain rintamapilvien karkea määrä. Rintamapilvet ovat yleensä verho - hahtuva - sade - kuuropilviä runsaassa tapauksessa ja vähäisessä tapauksessa untuva - harso - palleropilviä. Rintamaan nähden poikkeavasta kulkusuunnasta on tarvittaessa maininta samoin kuin on mainintoja muista erikoistapauksista. Pilvien kuvaussuunnat on mainittu viimeisenä.

Lopuksi tämän hetken ja tulevien päivien säästä. Alkuviikon lämpöaallon aikana +10 astetta jäi saavuttamatta niukasti ja nyt sää on kylmentynyt niin, että tänään etelärannikollakin satoi ajoittain räntää - lunta. Lämpötila on ollut koko ajan kuitenkin sen verran nollan yläpuolella, että maahan muodostunut ohut lumipeite on sulanut (mm. yhä jatkuva meren lämmittävä vaikutus näin kylmässä tilanteessa). Sisämaassa lunta on satanut runsaammin ja siellä monet lumettomatkin alueet ovat saaneet tänään vahvemman lumipeitteen. Tilannetta voi seurata kelikameroista.

Tulevina päivinä tämä takatalvi jatkaa otettaan melko samaan tapaan. Etelä-Suomen päälle tullut matalapaine on paikallaan sunnuntaihin asti ja se antaa ajoittaista räntä - lumisadetta heikoissa tuulissa. Runsas pilvisyys estää yölämpötilojen tippumista ja ainoastaan sisämaassa voi joinakin öinä olla n. -5 astetta pakkasta (rannikolla pari astetta). Päivisin on joka tapauksessa parisen astetta plussaa. Alkuviikolla Suomen eteläpuolelta itäpuolelle näyttäisi liikkuvan kohtalaisen voimakas matalapaine, joka ylläpitää edelleen samanlaista kylmää jaksoa. Matalapaineen reitistä riippuu se, tuleeko lunta ja kuinka paljon...

Joka tapauksessa nyt ei ole vielä näköpiirissä seuraavaa kunnolla keväistä lämpöaaltoa, vaan tavallaan jo viidettä kuukautta peräkkäin jatkuva normaalin marraskuun kaltainen syys-talvisää pitää pintansa pitkään ja se ei anna kunnon mahdollisuutta kevättöiden alkaa ulkona arboretumprojektissani. Maa tosin on nyt ennätyksellisesti sula ja sen mahdollinen ohut jäätyminen riippuu tulevien yöpakkasten ja iltapäivien lämpöasteiden jakautumisesta. Mahdollisesti tulevat lumipeitteet voivat myös aiheuttaa pitkää viivästystä. Onneksi yöpakkaset pysyvät tuon pilvisyyden ansiosta vain ajankohtaan nähden tavanomaisina. Sen takia jo kasvuunkin lähteneet kasvit säästyvät suurelta stressiltä.



Now I have updated the weather and nature follow-up blog Maisema - Landscape. At the same time I removed too laboured work phases away again from the updating. From now on the photo sets Taivaankansi - Firmament and Maan povi - The Bosom Of The Earth are as whole links and not as photo by photo pieces in the blog in question. Please, go check out also the other changes. I apologise the fact, that in this update period there are again errors in those weather map links I have given; in the other archive page the weather maps are partially mixed up from the chronological order. Irritating!

I decreased also the texts furthermore in the photo sets in question; now there aren't written describtions about the cloud movements. That matter you can learn to interpret from surface pressure weather maps. The rules of thump are these; the clouds not relating with fronts are moving along with the winds of earth's surface. In this case the direction and the strength of the wind is read from the map's isobar lines, where the wind circles the low pressure anti-clockwise and the high pressure clockwise approximately along to the isobar lines. The tighter the isobar lines are the stronger the wind is and the faster the clouds move at the location in question.

The clouds relating with fronts are moving along with the fronts, but single parts of the clouds in there are moving also with upper level air flows in different angles to the front in question. In the Taivaankansi - Firmament photo sets there will be from now on mentions about the clouds relating to the fronts. If there aren't mentions of the cloud types in question, then the frontal clouds are hiding behind the lower clouds and then only a coarse amount of the clouds is mentioned. The frontal clouds are generally altostratus - altocumulus - nimbostratus - cumulonimbus clouds in the profuse case and in the minor case cirrus - cirrostratus - cirrocumulus clouds. When needed, there will be a mention about the differing moving direction regarding the front in the same way as there will be mentions in other special cases. The photoshoot directions of the clouds are mentioned the last.

To the end about the weather of this moment and coming days. During the early week warm weather +10 C remained unreached narrowly and now the weather has gotten cold in such a way, that there came sleet - snow also by the southern coast. However, temperatures have been all the time so much above zero C, that the thin snowcover formed onto the ground has melted (for example the further continuing warming effect of the sea during this cold situation). In inland areas there have been snowing more profusely and there many snowless areas as well have been getting today thicker snowcover. The situation can be followed from the weather cameras.

During coming days this late wintry weather will be continuing its grip in a rather same way. The low pressure arrived over southern Finland will be in place until sunday and it will be giving occasional sleet and snow in weak winds. A profuse cloudiness will prevent night temperatures from dropping and only in inland areas there may be about -5 C of frost at some nights (by the coast couple of degrees). During afternoons there will be in any case couple of degrees above zero C temperatures. During early week there would appear to be moving a moderately strong low pressure from the southern side of Finland to the eastern side, which will maintain further a same kind of cold period. From the path of the low pressure depends the fact, that will there be snowing and how much...

In any case, now there isn't in sight a next proper spring warmth, but in a way already for the fifth month in a row an autumn - winter weather similar to normal November will hold on to its grip for a long time and that won't be giving a proper chance for spring tasks to start outdoors in my arboretum project. Though, the soil is now unfrozen in a record breaking way and its possible thin freez will now depend on the distribution of the coming night frosts and afternoon above zero C temperatures. Possibly coming snowcovers may also cause a long delay. Fortunately the night frosts will remain only at an average level of the season thanks to that cloudiness. Due to that also the plants already started to grow will be spared from a great stress.

Here is information about the translation and updating of this blog's old posts. Originally I was obligated to translate old posts into english this winter and restore some old posts at the same time, but these peculiar circumstances of the "winter" have been causing lots of interesting matters to write about and other hurries as well. Therefore I haven't had time to handle the translation matter. Spring is appearing to rush foward with its arboretum hurries in an extreme way ahead of schedule and I have other hurries as well this year. Therefore I will leave the translation for now and I will return to the matter perhaps only next year... I am sorry about the matter.

Blogitrilogia muuttuu sää- ja luontoseurannaksi - The blog trilogy changes to the weather and nature follow-up

Nyt olen viimein päätynyt lopulliseen blogitrilogian päivitystapaan. Päätin niin, että lopetin Taivaankansi - Firmament ja Maan Povi - The Bosom Of The Earth blogien päivittämisen kokonaan. Jatkossa niiden tiedot kuvineen löytyvät vain Maisema - Landscape -blogin kautta linkkeinä ja tietysti suoraan ko. Flickr -sivuilta. Ajan puutteen vuoksi katsoin turhaksi päivittää kolmea blogia, kun saan samat tiedot esille vähemmällä vaivalla. Näin blogitrilogia ei ole enää blogitrilogia, vaan tästä lähtien käytän nimitystä sää- ja luontoseuranta.

Tässä on linkki äsken päivitettyyn Maisema - Landscape -blogiin, jota päivitän tästäkin lähtien puoli kuukautta kerrallaan. Se on sopivan mielekäs määrä päivittää yhdellä kertaa. Now I have finally ended up to the final updating method of the blog trilogy. I decided so, that I stopped updating the blogs Taivaankansi - Firmament and Maan Povi - The Bosom Of The Earth completely. In the future their information with photos are to be found only via Maisema - Landscape blog as links and of course directly from the Flickr pages in question. Due to the lack of time I found it unnecessary to update three blogs, when I am able to bring out the same information with less effort. In this way the blog trilogy isn't anymore the blog trilogy, but from now on I will use the name the weather and nature follow-up.

Here is the link to the moment ago updated Maisema - Landscape blog, which I will update from now on as well a half month at the time. That is a suitably sensible amount to update at once. I won't tell anymore than this about the changes, because you can go to check out the matter from the blog in question. To the ends of the months I will further place a hydrological report introduced last time. Those ended blogs will remain displayed. I might do yet a language maintenance to them sometimes.

Olen viimein aloittanut blogitrilogian itse blogien päivittämisen uudella menetelmällä. Tässä ovat linkit; blogi 1, blogi 2 ja blogi 3. Olen nyt karsinut Maisema - Landsape -blogin päivittämisestä kaikki selittävät tekstit pois ja se on tästä eteen päin vain linkkiblogi (Flickr -kuvat ovat uudella tavalla mukana), jota muut blogit tukevat. Yhdistän kasvillisuuden käyttäytymistä linkkeihin jälkeen päin joskus tulevaisuudessa kasvivalokuvausprojektini avulla; ideoita on... Muissa blogeissa on lyhyet kuvaukset ko. kuvista. Otsikoiden merkitykset korostuvat tilanteiden kuvaamisessa.

Päätin näin, koska näiden blogien lukijat ovat todennäköisesti eniten sellaisia, että he tietävät jo valmiiksi paljon esim. meteorologiasta. Voin siis jättää esim. säätilanteiden tarkat selitykset pois, kun he löytävät helposti tiedon ääreen itsekin. Tärkeä syy on myös se, että minulla ei ole aikaa tehdä pitkiä tekstejä näihin blogeihin. Ei tässä vaiheessa muuta tästä. Käykääpä tutustumassa blogien uusiin olemuksiin!

Päivitys 22.1.2008 klo. 12:15: Huomatkaa, että siinä Helsingin Puistolan säätilastossa on virhe 27 - 28 päivien lämpötiloissa; on mahdotonta, että edellisen päivän minimilämpötila olisi korkeampi kuin seuraavan päivän maksimilämpötila. Heidän mittauksissaan on ilmeisesti ollut katkos kriittisellä hetkellä 27. päivänä ennen puolta yötä (tai heti sen jälkeen); matalapaine aiheutti lämmintä säätä koko alkupäivälle ja voimakasta kylmenemistä loppupäivälle yli puolen yön. Korjasin lukeman blogieni tietoihin 28. päivän kohdalle. Ärsyttävää on myös se, että Wetter 3 -linkkien sääkartoissa on isot katkokset juuri tässä lokakuun 2006 lopulla.



I have finally started updating the the blog trilogy's blogs themselves with a new method. Here are the links; the blog 1, the blog 2 and the blog 3. I have now cut down all explaining texts away from the Maisema - Landsape blog's updating and from now on it is only a link blog (Flickr photos are included in a new way), which the other blogs are supporting. I will connect behaviour of the plants into the links afterwards sometime in the future with the help of my plant photography project; ideas exist... In the other blogs there are short explanations of the photos in question. The meanings of the headlines are getting more profilic, when illustrating the situations.

I decided it this way, because readers of these blogs are propably such people in the most cases, that they know a lot about for example meteorology for a start. So, I can leave away for example specific explanations about the weather situations, because they can find their way to the information by their own as well. An important reason is also the fact, that I don't have time to do long texts onto these blogs. Nothing more about this for now. Please, go to check out the new appearances of the blogs!

Update at the 22nd of January 2008 at 12:15 PM: Please note, that in that weather chart of Puistola, Helsinki there is an error in the temperatures of the 27th and 28th days; it is impossible, that the minimum temperature of the previous day would be higher than the maximum temperature of the following day. Evidently there has been a break in their measurements in the critical moment at the 27th day before the midnight (or immediately after that); the low pressure caused warm weather for all early part of the day and a strong cool down for the rest of the day over the midnight. I corrected the value to the informations of my blogs at the place of the 28th day. Irritating is also the fact, that in the weather maps of the Wetter 3 links there are big breaks just in here at the end of October 2006.

Blogien lukua ja tyypilliseksi käyvää leutoa säätä - Reading of blogs and a mild weather getting typical

Tänään olen lukenut ahkerasti muiden blogeja ja kaksi pitkää kommenttiakin olen kirjoittanut. Toinen kommentti venyi erittäin pitkäksi ja päätin tehdä siitä tänne myös blogimerkinnän. Se valmistuu vasta myöhemmin, koska se pitää mm. kääntää englanniksi.

Huominen on minulla vapaapäivä töistä ja ajattelin tehdä arboretumiini liittyviä töitä. Palaan asiaan ja sitten selviää, mitä sain aikaan...

Lopuksi taas huomioita säätilanteesta, joka ilmentää etenevää ilmastonmuutosta taas kerran. Parhaillaan eteläisessä Suomessa (koko Suomessa myös) vallitsee se ennustettu hyvin leuto sää, mutta aivan viime joulukuun ennätyslämpötiloihin ei ole päästy. Tänään on ollut n. +7 asteen lukemia lounaisosassa maata. Lumet ovat jo sulaneet suuresta osasta eteläistä Suomea (idässä lunta on tyypillisesti eniten ja siten vielä jäljellä) ja yli viikonlopun jatkuva leuto sää sulattaa maita lumettomiksi yhä laajemmin ja ainakin etelärannikolla jopa roudattomaksi sulava maa mahdollistaa taas istutustöitä; jo toisena peräkkäisenä joulukuuna! Sateita tulee päivittäin, mutta sisämaassakin ne tulevat lähes yksinomaan vetenä. Lauantaina on myös erittäin tuulista. Ensi viikolla saattaa keskiviikon tienoilla tapahtua jonkinlainen kylmeneminen, koska silloin näyttäisi muodostuvan korkeapaine Pohjois-Euroopan ylle...

Päivitys 8.12.2007 klo. 10:30; Tänään ja osittain huomenna Euroopassa tapahtuu merkittävä sääilmiö. Irlannin ja Englannin eteläosiin on vaarassa iskeä hirmumyrsky ja Pohjois-Ranskan tienoilla tuulee myös rajusti; meteorologinen analyysi aiheesta on tässä.

Päivitys 8.12.2007 klo. 12:45; Etelä-Suomessa merkittävää tällä hetkellä on tulvat. Esim. Vantaanjoki on noussut tulvakorkeuksiin. Kokonaan sulanut maaperä on erittäin märkää ja pellot ovat erittäin mutaisia. Äsken matkallani Hämeenlinnaan eräs pelto oli jopa puoliksi veden vallassa Vantaanjoen varrella. Syynä tähän ovat lumet sulattanut viime aikainen leuto sää (tänäänkin jopa n. +6 astetta) ja runsaat vesisateet, kuten viime yönä; sadetutka.

Päivitys 8.12.2007 klo. 15:45; Ensi viikon kylmenemisestä lisätietoa. Keskiviikoksi muodostuva korkeapaine näyttää asettuvan loppuviikoksi Suomen lounaispuolelle siten, että ilmavirtaukset käyvät pohjoisen ja lännen väliltä. Tämä saattaa mahdollistaa Föhntuulen siten etenkin maan länsiosassa, että kylmeneminen voi jäädä vain hyvin vähäiseksi Etelä-Suomessakin; yhä ajoittain plusasteita. Jos Föhntuuli ei vaikuta, niin silloin on useita asteita pakkasta. Runsas pilvipeite voi myös estää voimakasta kylmenemistä. Alkuviikon vesi - räntäsateiden jälkeen on sateetonta. Sen takia kylmeneminen ei tiedä juuri ollenkaan lunta, mikäli sitä ei ennen korkeapainetta ehdi tulla. Lumettomuus saattaa siis jatkua pitkään...



Today I have been reading busily other people's blogs and I have been written also two long comments. The other comment became very long and I decided to make a blog post as well from it in here. It will be finished only later, as it must be translated into english amongst others.

Tomorrow will be a day off from work for me (today was also a day off due to the Finland's Independence Day) and I thought about doing tasks associating my arboretum. I will return to the matter and then it will be revealed, what I was able to get done...

To the end notes again about the weather condition, which illustrates once again the proceeding climate change. At the moment there prevails that forecasted very mild weather in southern Finland (in whole Finland as well), but the record temperatures of last December haven't been reached narrowly. Today there have been figures of about +7 C in southwestern parts of the country. The snow has been melted allready from a large part of southern Finland (in the east there is snow the most typically and therefore yet left on the ground) and the weather continuing mild over the weekend will cause snowless grounds evermore in larger area and at least by the southern coast the soil melting even iceless will make planting tasks possible again; allready for the second December in the row! There will come precipitation daily, but in inland areas as well they will come allmost entirely in the form of rain. It will be very windy as well during saturday. During the next week around wednesday there might be happening a some kind of cooling, because then there appears to be forming a high pressure over northern Europe...

Update at the 8th of December 2007 at 10:30 AM; During today and partly tomorrow there will happen a significant weather phenomenon in Europe. There is a risk for hurricane strenght winds hitting southern parts of Ireland and England and it will be severely windy also around northern France. Here you can find for example the warnings in UK.

Update at the 8th of December at 12:45 PM; In southern Finland a significant feature at this moment are floods. For example the Vantaanjoki river has risen to flood levels. The completely unfrozen soil is very wet and fields are very muddy. A moment ago in my way to Hämeenlinna one field was even halfly flooded by the Vantaanjoki river. The reason for this are the recent mild weather (today as well even about +6 C), which melted the snow and profuse rains, like during last night; the weather radar.

Update at the 8th of December 2007 at 3:45 PM; More information about the colder weather of the next week. The high pressure forming until wednesday appears to be settling for the rest of the week into southwestern side of Finland in such a way, that air flows will blow from between north and west. This might make possible a Föhn wind in such a way especially in western parts of the country, that colder weather can remain only very minor in southern Finland as well; further occasionally above zero C temperatures. If the Föhn wind doesn't affect, then there will be several degrees of frost. Plentifull cloud layers can also prevent the weather from getting strongly colder. After the rain - sleet of the early week there won't be coming precipitation. Therefore the colder weather doesn't mean hardly any snow, if there won't be time to it to come before the high pressure. So, snowless conditions might continue for a long time...

Tilannetiedotuksia - Reports of the situation

Kasvukauden päättyminen tietää tästä lähtien muutoksia toimiini ja samalla on alkamassa taas uusi vaihe bloggaamisessani.

Huomenna menen tämän vuoden osalta viimeisen kerran Helsingin Kaisaniemen kasvitieteelliseen puutarhaan tekemään kasvivalokuvausprojektiani. Siellä on vielä yksittäisillä lajeilla lehtiä jäljellä. Valokuvaaminen vähenee tämän jälkeen ja voin alkaa valmistautumaan kasvivalokuvieni julkaisuun. Ensi vuonna puiden ja pensaiden osalta teen vielä ns. paikkaavaa valokuvausta ja harkitsen perennoiden ottamista tarkempaan kuvausohjelmaan.

Blogitrilogiani on joutunut edelleen mietinnän alle. Edelleen jatkuvan valokuvausinnostukseni vuoksi valokuvamateriaalia on syntynyt runsaasti. Niinpä se on aiheuttanut ongelmia blogieni päivityksiin. Tuon edelleen Flickr -sivuilleni uusia kuvia reaaliajassa, mutta blogit ovat nyt vähän aikaa päivittymättä ratkaistessani niille helpommin päivitettävän muodon. Tulen laittamaan myöhemmin kuviani myös eri Flickr -ryhmiin.

Vanhojen merkintöjen kielenkääntö tässä blogissa tapahtuu jossakin vaiheessa talvella. Pidän silloin pitkän tauon kaikesta muusta bloggaamisesta ko. työn ajan. Päivitystahtini on talven ajan hitaampi muutenkin kuin aikaisemmin, mutta tarvittaessa teen edelleen mm. sääraportteja. Siirrän painoa idealististen - kriittisten kirjoitusten tekoon; sekä uusia aiheita että niitä, jotka jäivät kesken viime keväänä - alkukesällä. Kasvikuvajulkaisuihin liittyviä asioita laitan tänne jo tämän vuoden puolella.

Arboretumprojektissani on tiedossa vielä tämän vuoden aikana siementen esikäsittelyyn laittoa ja torjunta-ainekäsittelyjä. Niistä seuraa ajallaan mainintoja.

Päivitys 18.11.2007 klo. 18:05: Kävin Kaisaniemen kasvitieteellisessä puutarhassa valokuvaamassa vasta tänään, kun eilinen meni sen verran toipuessa työnantajani pikkujouluista. Kuvatessa havaitsin nyt, että vielä jopa lähes kesäasussa olivat kastanjaköynnös (Akebia quinata), silkkiviini (Periploca graeca), aitalikusteri (Ligustrum vulgare) ja hopeapensaslaji (Elaeagnus umbellata). Osa lehdistä oli vaurioutunut tämän viikon pakkasissa. Tämän lisäksi ruska oli parhaimmillaan muutamilla atsalealajeilla (Rhododendron sp.); paljon ruskehtavan oranssia - punaista. Näitä päätin käydä tarkistamassa vielä 1 - 2 kertaa loppuvuoden aikana, jotta saan selville niiden lehtien lopulliset varisemisajat ja -tyylit.



The ending of the growing season will mean changes to my activities from now on and at the same time there will start again a new phase in my blogging.

Tomorrow I will go for the last time this year to the botanical garden of Kaisaniemi in Helsinki to do my plant photography project. There are leaves left yet on single species. The photographing will decrease after this and I can start prepairing for the publishing of my plant photos. During next year I will do yet a so called patching up photography in the cases of trees and shrubs and I will consider taking perennials into a more precise photographing programme.

My blog trilogy is forced once again under consideration. Due to my further ongoing photography enthusiasm there has been created a lot of photo material. Therefore it has been causing problems into the updating of the blogs. I will further put new photos into my Flickr pages in real time, but the blogs are now for a while without updates as I will be resolving an easier shape of updating for them. I will put later my photos into different Flickr groups as well.

The translation of the old posts in this blog will happen at some time during the winter. I will then have a long pause from all other blogging during the work in question. My updating pace will be otherwise as well slower than earlier, but I will do further for example weather reports when needed. I will place weight into making of idealistic - critical writings; both new issues and those, which were unfinished last spring - early summer. I will place here matters associating with the plant photo publishing allready during this year.

In my arboretum project there will be yet time during this year for putting seeds into pre-treatments and making pesticide treatments. There will be mentions about them in time.

Update at the 18th of November at 6:05 PM: I visited photographing at the botanical garden of Kaisaniemi in Helsinki only today, because yesterday went so much recovering from the pikkujoulu (little christmas) party of my employer. During the photographing I noticed now, that species yet with even allmost full summer foliage were Five Leaf Akebia (Akebia quinata), Silk Wine (Periploca graeca), European Privet (Ligustrum vulgare) and Autumn Olive (Elaeagnus umbellata). A part of the leaves were damaged in this week's frosts. In addition to this fall colours were in their peak on some azalea species (Rhododendron sp.); a lot of brownish orange - red. I decided to check these out yet for 1 - 2 times during the end of the year, so that I will discover final shedding times and shedding styles of their leaves.

Uudistin nyt blogitrilogiaa yhtenäisemmäksi kokonaisuudeksi. Keskusblogin osan ottaa Maisema - Landscape blogi. Muut blogit (Taivaankansi - Firmament ja Maan povi - The Bosom Of The Earth) ovat lisätietoa antavia sivublogeja. Niiden yksittäiset merkinnät ovat lokakuun 2006 alusta lähtien linkitetty tuon keskusblogin merkintöjen sekaan. Linkitysmetodina on kronologinen järjestys ko. blogien aikojen mukaan. Jätin syyskuun 2006 merkinnät ennalleen; jätän sen jakson muistoksi blogitrilogian kehitysvaiheista. Jatkossa blogitrilogian päivitykseen jää viive. Ehkä jätän sen noin vuoden mittaiseksi tai kavennan sitä innostuksen sattuessa ja ajan salliessa.


I renewed now the blog trilogy into a more even whole. The blog Maisema - Landscape is taking a role of a central blog. Other blogs (Taivaankansi - Firmament and Maan povi - The Bosom Of The Earth) are side blogs giving extra information. Their single posts are linked among the posts of that central blog from October 2006 onwards. The linking method will be a chronological order according to the times of the blogs in question. I left the posts of September 2006 entact; I leave that period as a recollection of the blog trilogy's development phases. In the future there will be left a delay in the blog trilogy's updating. Perhaps I will leave it about a year long or I will make it more narrow as an enthusiasm occurs and time lets me.

Nyt olen päivittänyt blogitrilogian blogit Taivaankansi - Firmament ja Maan povi - The Bosom Of The Earth. Päivitetty jakso on 1. - 15. lokakuuta 2006. Pian jatkossa teen nämä blogit paremmin toimivaksi kokonaisuudeksi Maisema - Landscape blogin kanssa. Sen takia tein noiden kahden tekstit nyt hieman uudella tavalla; mahdollisimman lyhytsanaisesti.

(Pinserin blogilistaa lukeville tiedoksi; blogitrilogiani blogit päivittyvät listan mukaan usein, vaikka en ole julkaissut blogeissa mitään uutta. Se johtuu blogeissani usein tekemistäni luonnosmerkinnöistä, jotka julkaisen vasta riittävän säätämisen jälkeen. Blogien sivuilla olevat päivitysmainostaulut ilmoittavat varsinaiset uudet julkaistut merkinnät.)



Now I have updated the blog trilogy blogs Taivaankansi - Firmament and Maan povi - The Bosom Of The Earth. The updated period is between the 1st and the 15th of October 2006. Soon in the future I will make these blogs to be a better functioning whole with the blog Maisema - Landscape. Due to that I made the texts of those two now in a bit new way; as few words as possible.

Pitkän tauon jälkeen olen nyt päivittänyt blogitrilogiaani. Blogiin Maisema - Landscape on lisätty lokakuun 2006 alun tilanteet.

After a long pause I have now updated my blog trilogy. There have been added situations of October 2006 to the blog Maisema - Landscape.

Viime viikon hauskuuksia ja ahdistuksia - Amusements and anxieties of the last week

Nyt on sopiva hetki katsoa menneen viikon asioita. Ensimmäiseksi tuosta kuvasta. Viime perjantaina vietin hauskan illan ja yön Blogimiitissä. Siellä tapasin paljon kivoja ihmisiä ja tuo kuva on otettu illan - yön aikana. Jääköön se mielikuvituksen varaan, että mikä lamppu ja missä... Lamppu valikoitui kuvauskohteeksi mm. tuon kivan lisäolion takia, mutta tässä voin samalla paljastaa, että jo muutaman vuoden ikäisenä lapsena katto- ym. valot olivat minulle itseasiassa eräs ensioire suuresta kiinnostuksestani ympäristöä kohtaan. Katselin silloin vanhempieni kyläreissuilla ihmisten lamppuja ja tein tarkkoja huomioita; "Äiti, noitten lampussa on kuollut kärpänen kuupan sisällä!...". Piirsin niitä lamppuja sitten innokkaasti muististani paperille kotona. Ja senhän monet muistavat, että 1970 - luvulla lamputkin saattoivat olla "erikoisen" näköisiä... :)

Hauskan vastapuolena täytyy mainita, että viime viikolla en edelleenkään saanut arboretumprojektiani liikkeelle. Mitään uutta kerrottavaa ei siitä siis ole. Olen viime aikoina vain keskittynyt niin voimakkaasti kasvivalokuvausprojektiini. Kahta asiaa ei liene mahdollista tehdä täysillä yhtäaikaa :) Tässä vaiheessa vuotta ulkohommien tekoa alkaa vaivaamaan enenevässä määrin myös vihollinen nimeltä pimeys. Arkityön jälkeen on pakko todeta, että iltaisin ei enää ole riittävästi valoisaa aikaa tiettyjen tehtävien suorittamiseen. Tämä selvästi lisää kynnystä ryhtyä edes kerran viikossa esim. arboretumhommiin. No, katsotaan mitä tällä viikolla tapahtuisi...



Now it is a suitable time to rewind matters of the ended week. At first about the photo. Last friday I spend a hilarious evening and night at Blogimiitti (a Helsinki region bloggers meeting with evening funtime at a bar etc. The link is in finnish, but there you can find at least the list of who participated). There I met a lot of nice people and that photo is taken during the evening - night. Will it remain as an object of imagination, like what lamp and where... The lamp was chosen to be photographed for example due to that nice extra being, but here I can also reveal that allready as a few years old child, ceiling lights etc. were for me actually one of the first symptoms of my great interest towards the environment. In those days during my parents visits I watched people's lamps and I made detailed observations; "Mum, there's a dead fly inside their lamp's globe!...". Then I drew enthusiastically those lamps from my memory on the paper at home. And many do remember, that lamps as well might have been "peculiar" looking during the 1970 's... :)

As opposed to fun I must mention, that during the last week I wasn't able to get my arboretum project on the move furthermore. So, there isn't anything new to tell about that. During recent times I have just concentrated so strongly to my plant photography project. It may be the case, that it isn't possible to do two things with full speed at the same time :) At this phase of the year the outdoor tasks are getting to be harmed in growing amounts also by the enemy called darkness. After day's work one must conclude, that during evenings there isn't enough daylight time anymore to do certain tasks. This clearly adds more to the threshold to be able to make for example arboretum tasks at least once a week. Well, let's see what would happen during this week...

Ensimmäiset luokkatunnisteet valmiita - The first tags are ready

Eilen illalla sain valmiiksi tämän blogin kaksikielisten merkintöjen luokkatunnisteet ja jatkossa jokainen uusi merkintä saa tunnisteet. Seuraava vaihe on alkaa kääntämään englanniksi vanhimpia merkintöjä ja lisätä niihin samalla tunnisteet. Blogitrilogian blogeihin teen tunnisteet vasta sen jälkeen. Tunnisteisiin saattaa tulla vielä muutoksia myöhemmin. Joissakin merkinnöissä jouduin rajoittamaan tunnisteiden määrää, koska niitä ei voi lisätä liikaa. Näin kävi runsaasti kasvilajeja luetteloivissa merkinnöissä ja jouduin jättämään ko. kasvisukutunnisteita pois sopivalla metodilla.


During yesterday evening I finished the tags of the bilingual posts of this blog and in the future every new post will get tags. The next phase is to start translating the oldest posts into english and add tags to them at the same time. I will make tags to the blog trilogy blogs only after that. There might yet come changes to the tags later on. On some posts I was forced to narrow down the amount of tags, because they cannot be added too much. This happened in the cases of the posts listing a lot of plant species and I was forced to leave the plant genus tags in question away according to a suitable method.

Linkkikokoelmat täydentyvät edelleen - The link collections are being added further

Tänään innostuin vielä täydentämään kaikkien blogieni linkkikokoelmia. Samalla säädin ne kaikkien blogien kesken melkein samanlaisiksi. Tässä on pienet esittelyt kustakin uutena lisätystä linkistä;

Suomen kelikamerat; Tämä on jo ollut esillä tässä blogissa. Ko. kameroista näkee koko Suomen säätilanteet ja vuodenaikojen kehittymiset alueellisine eroineen varsin hyvin. Osa kuvista on huonoja luonnon seurannan kannalta, mutta osa tosi hyviä. Olen seurannut mm. lehtien puhkeamista, ruskan tuloa ja lumitilanteita jo vuosia tältä sivustolta normaalin tiekelin lisäksi.

Suomen Ympäristökeskuksen vesitilannekatsaukset; Linkistä pääsee käsiksi monen menneen vuoden vesiolosuhderaportteihin. Raportit on laadittu kuukausittain ja ne kattavat koko manner Suomen kaikenlaiset vesialueet järvistä pohjaveteen. Erinomainen sivusto, joka tuo hyvin esille sääolojen vaikutukset myös tällä tavalla. Olen käyttänyt sivun tietoja hyväkseni jo vuosia.

Suomen Merentutkimuslaitoksen jäätilanne; Tällä sivulla on havainnolliset kuvat jäätilanteesta kaikilla Suomeen rajoittuvilla merialueilla. Jäätilannesivua päivitetään ainoastaan talviaikana. Erinomainen sivu merijään ja sään välisen yhteyden seurantaan ja tutkintaan (meren lämpötilat myös jossain määrin). Tätäkin sivustoa olen seurannut jo vuosia.

4Seasons In Southern Finland; Tässä on myös luontoaiheinen valokuvablogi. Sen idea muistuttaa blogitrilogiani ideaa, jossa vuodenaikoja seurataan valokuvaamalla, mutta tässä tietenkin heidän (useita tekijöitä) omasta näkökulmastaan.

Today I agitated yet to add my link collections in all of my blogs. At the same time I adjusted them to be allmost the same between each other. Here are small introductions of the links added as new ones;

Finnish Road Weather Cameras; This has allready been on the front in this blog. The cameras in question are showing rather well weather conditions and proceedings of the seasons in whole Finland along with the regional differences. A part of the pictures are bad considering the nature observing, but an other part of them are very good. I have been observing for example unfolding leaves, appearing of fall colours and snow conditions for years from thís site in addition to the normal road condition information. The site is in finnish, but it may not be a bad thing when browsing, because the pages are heavily picture based.

Finland's environmental administration; The specific link isn't found in english here; it shows monthly water condition reports, which are telling water situations of all kinds of water areas in all continental Finland. Here is a link to the administration itself in english; in the sidebars there are the actual finnish links only.

Finnish Institute of Marine Researc - the ice condition; The same may be said about this link as in the case of the previous, but this is also heavily picture based site and the language isn't therefore such a big issue here. This page shows illustrative pictures of ice conditions on all sea areas touching Finland's soil. The ice condition page is being updated only during winter (on every tuesday). Therefore at this phase there has been stucked on the last ice condition picture of the previous ice period from the last spring. An excellent site to observe and examin a link between the weather and the sea ice (sea temperatures as well in some extent). I have observed this site as well for years.

Gaisma's sunrise and sunset times at Helsinki; This has allready been on the front in my blog trilogy. In addition to the sunrise and sunset times the graph on the page shows well also the times of dusk, dawn and darkness during every seasons. One can be able to examin corresponding informations from the site on all over the earth on various locations.

Kuvapuisto; A finnish photo blog, which contains especially nature related photographs. Very nice!

4Seasons In Southern Finland; Here is also a nature related finnish photo blog (note; in english). Its idea is resembling the idea of my blog trilogy, where one observes the seasons by photographing, but here ofcourse from their (several makers) own point of view.

Blogien säätöä ja kielenkääntöä - Adjusting and translating the blogs

Olen nyt muokannut blogieni sivupalkeissa esittelytekstejä ja blogiprofiiliani (sama koskee Pinserin Blogilistan tietojani). Samalla tämän blogin nimi muuttui vähän. Tarkoitukseni on nyt alkaa tekemään vihdoinkin myös luokkatunnisteet kaikkiin merkintöihini. Samalla käännän englanniksi ne merkinnät, jotka ovat vielä vain suomeksi tässä blogissa. Kun olen saanut yhden kuukauden vanhat merkinnät käännettyä englanniksi, laitan siitä joka kerta merkinnät mainokseksi. Käännösten etenemistä voi seurata myös ennen niitä. Käännösten yhteydessä palautan myös 2005 - 2006 tekemäni Viikon kasvi -sarjan. Olkoon se esimakuna suuresta kasvivalokuvausprojektistani sen julkaisun alla. On syytä huomauttaa, että kaikki tämä etenee hitaasti muiden samaan aikaan olevien projektien takia.

I have now modified the credits and my blog profile (now also in english) on the sidebars of my blogs. At the same time the name of this blog changed a little. Now my aim is to finally start making tags to all of my posts. At the same time I'll translate those posts into english, which are yet only in finnish in this blog. When I have translated one month's old posts into english, I will make posts about it as advertisments every time. One can observe the proceeding of the translations also before them. Along with the translations I will return the Plant of The Week series I made during 2005 - 2006. Will it be as a taster of my big plant photography project before its publishing. It must be notified, that all this will proceed slowly due to the other projects being present at the same time.

At last I have updated again the blog Maan povi - The Bosom Of The Earth. The update reaches the latter part of September 2006. In the posts we can observe for example influences of that month's record warm conditions.

Harkitsen vielä sitä, että muutanko myös syyskuun alun merkinnät vastaavalla tavalla vai jätänkö ne ennalleen. Jatkossa tämä tekstien supistaminen koskee em. blogin lisäksi Maan povi - The Bosom Of The Earth blogia. Muutan näiden blogien alkutekstitkin sen mukaan lähiaikoina. Maisema - Landscape blogi jää ennalleen. Se blogi on jatkossa kokonaiskuvan antava ja sisältää aiheita laajemmin. Nuo muut blogit toimivat erikoisaiheisiin tarkennettuina kylkiäisinä.



Late last evening I finished the Taivaankansi - Firmament blog update regarding the end of September 2006. I decided to decrease the amounts of texts further as compared to earlier amounts. I consider yet, if I will change the early September posts in the same way or if I will leave them untouched. In the future this decreasing of the texts will be regarding the blog Maan povi - The Bosom Of The Earth in addition to the mentioned blog. I will change also the credits of these blogs according to that in the near future. The blog Maisema - Landscape will remain entact. That blog will be giving a whole picture and will include matters in a wider scale. Those other blogs will act as spin-offs focused on special matters.

Harmia blogitrilogiasta ja hallanvaarasta - A harm from the blog trilogy and from a risk of ground frost

Viime aikoina olen ollut yhä saamaton arboretumprojektini suhteen, joten siitä ei ole uutta kerrottavaa vielä. Aikaa on mennyt (ja menee tällä viikolla yhä mm. kaksiin syntymäpäiväjuhliin) muihin puuhiin ja uuteen tietokoneeseeni tutustumiseen. Se on Hewlett Packardin Pavilion Dv6500 läppäri. Pienen harjoittelun jälkeen (käytän ensimmäistä kertaa Windows Vista -ohjelmistoa) olen ollut hyvin tyytyväinen sen toimintaan.

Aikaisemmin en ole itse asiassa omistanut tietokonetta, vaan olen käyttänyt "milloin mitäkin konetta". Nyt bloggaamisprojektini helpottuu, mutta olen edelleen pohtinut blogitrilogiani mielekkyyttä; Flickr -sivuille on helppo ladata paljon kuvia, mutta tekstien luominen niihin kuviin blogiympäristössä tuntuu hyvin vaivalloiselta ja päivittäminen on hidasta. Päivityksen viive kasvaa kasvamistaan. Minulla olisi paljon mielenkiintoista asiaa annettavaksi niiden kuvien yhteydessä, mutta asioita täytyisi vähentää yhä lisää...

Etelä-Suomen kasvienviljelysäästä lopuksi: Viime perjantai oli tällä erää viimeinen kunnolla kesäinen päivä (lämpötila yli +20 astetta) ja viime torstaina ukkosti ankarasti mm. Hämeenlinnan seudulla (tällä kertaa ei niinkään pääkaupunkiseudulla). Sen jälkeen matalapaineet ovat asettuneet Suomen ylle ja sen itäpuolelle; länsi - pohjoistuulten myötä sää on kylmentynyt päivittäin ja eilisestä lähtien päivälämpötiloissa on jääty alle +15 asteeseen. Sadetta on saatu kohtalaisesti - runsaasti esim. viime torstain ukkosiin liittyen. Tuulet ja runsas pilvisyys ovat pitäneet yölämpötilat vielä suhteellisen korkeina (vain vähän alle +10 astetta), mutta viikon loppupuolella yhä ajankohtaan nähden hyvin viileässä säässä on selvä hallanvaara sään seljetessä ja tuulten tyyntyessä.

Hallan sattuminen näin varhaisessa vaiheessa on melko harvinaista. Kasvien kasvattamisen urallani muistan, että vuonna 1995 oli edellisen kerran tuhoja tehnyttä hallaa jo elokuun lopussa. Harmillista, jos niin käy tänä vuonna. Ainakin alaville ym. hallanaroille maille kannattaa nyt luoda hallantorjuntaa (mikäli mahdollista) tai viedä arat kasvit yöksi sisätiloihin, sillä tarpeellisia kasvu - kehitysvaiheita ennen talvea olisi näin varhaisessa vaiheessa vielä jäljellä. Pahimmillaan esim. mustaseljan (Sambucus nigra) ja viiniköynnösten (Vitis sp.) marjat eivät ehtisi kypsyä. Joka tapauksessa kasvukauden tilanteessa ollut kahden viikon etumatka taantuu normaaliin syyskuun alkuun mennessä pitkään jatkuvan viileän sään takia...



Lately i have been further lazy regarding my arboretum, so there isn't new to tell about it yet. Time have been spend to other activities (and will further be so during this week like due to two birthday parties) and to get to know my new computer. It is a Hewlett Packard Pavilion Dv6500 notebook PC. After a little bit of practizing (i use Windows Vista software for the first time) i have been very satisfied towards its functioning.

Actually i haven't been owned a computer before, but i have been using "whatever computer there was around". Now my blogging project will be easier, but i have been further considering about the sensibility regarding my blog trilogy; it is easy to upload plenty of photos into the Flickr pages, but creating texts to those photos in the blog environment feels very laboured and the updating is slow. The delay of the updating grows further more. I would have a lot of interesting matters to give with those photos, but one would have to decrease matters further more...

To the end about the plant cultivating weather of southern Finland: Last friday was the last properly summery day (the temperature over +20 C) for now and there thundered severly last thursday for example around Hämeenlinna region (not so around Helsinki area). Since then low pressures have been settling over Finland and to the eastern side of it; due to westerly - northerly winds the weather have been turning cooler day by day and since yesterday afternoon temperatures have been remaining under +15 C. There have been rain moderately - a lot for example as associated with the thursday's thunder. Winds and a plentifull cloudyness have been keeping the night temperatures rather high yet (only little under +10 C), but during the latter part of the week in a further very unseasonably cool weather there will be a clear risk of ground frost as the weather will be clearing and the winds will be easing.

The appearing of the ground frost is rather rare at so early phase. During my plant cultivation career i remember, that 1995 was the previous time there was a damaging ground frost allready at the end of August. It will be annoying, if that happens this year. At least on low and other frost sensitive grounds it is now worth to create frost prevention (if possible) or remove sensitive plants indoors for the night, because there would be necessary growing - developing phases left before winter at this early stage. At the worst for example berries of Black Elderberry (Sambucus nigra) and Grapes (Vitis sp.) wouldn't have time to become ripen. In any case the two week long advance that was in the growing season's phase will die down into normal until early September due to the cool weather continuing further for a long time...
