Blogitrilogia muuttuu sää- ja luontoseurannaksi - The blog trilogy changes to the weather and nature follow-up

Nyt olen viimein päätynyt lopulliseen blogitrilogian päivitystapaan. Päätin niin, että lopetin Taivaankansi - Firmament ja Maan Povi - The Bosom Of The Earth blogien päivittämisen kokonaan. Jatkossa niiden tiedot kuvineen löytyvät vain Maisema - Landscape -blogin kautta linkkeinä ja tietysti suoraan ko. Flickr -sivuilta. Ajan puutteen vuoksi katsoin turhaksi päivittää kolmea blogia, kun saan samat tiedot esille vähemmällä vaivalla. Näin blogitrilogia ei ole enää blogitrilogia, vaan tästä lähtien käytän nimitystä sää- ja luontoseuranta.

Tässä on linkki äsken päivitettyyn Maisema - Landscape -blogiin, jota päivitän tästäkin lähtien puoli kuukautta kerrallaan. Se on sopivan mielekäs määrä päivittää yhdellä kertaa. En kerro tämän enempää muutoksista, koska voitte käydä tutkimassa asiaa ko. blogista. Kuukausien loppuun laitan edelleen viime kerralla esitellyn hydrologisen raportin. Nuo lopetetut blogit jäävät näkyviin. Saatan tehdä niihin vielä kielihuoltoa joskus.



Now I have finally ended up to the final updating method of the blog trilogy. I decided so, that I stopped updating the blogs Taivaankansi - Firmament and Maan Povi - The Bosom Of The Earth completely. In the future their information with photos are to be found only via Maisema - Landscape blog as links and of course directly from the Flickr pages in question. Due to the lack of time I found it unnecessary to update three blogs, when I am able to bring out the same information with less effort. In this way the blog trilogy isn't anymore the blog trilogy, but from now on I will use the name the weather and nature follow-up.

Here is the link to the moment ago updated Maisema - Landscape blog, which I will update from now on as well a half month at the time. That is a suitably sensible amount to update at once. I won't tell anymore than this about the changes, because you can go to check out the matter from the blog in question. To the ends of the months I will further place a hydrological report introduced last time. Those ended blogs will remain displayed. I might do yet a language maintenance to them sometimes.

Now the blog trilogy's January 2008 is updated complete on my Flick pages. The added period covers the last three days of the month. Then the weather clearly milder than usually continued further, but in a variable way like containing three seasons; autumn, winter and spring. Ailahtelevan jakson blogitrilogiapäivitys - The blog trilogy update of the varying period

Tammikuun 2008 blogitrilogian päivittäminen lähestyy loppuaan Flickr -sivuillani. Tässä on toiseksi viimeiset linkit; blogi 1, blogi 2 ja blogi 3. Jakso on 23. päivästä eiliseen iltaan asti. Merkittävin tapahtuma jaksolla oli 24. päivän lumimyrsky ja sitä edeltänyt erittäin värikäs aamurusko. Lauha säätyyppi jatkui koko ajan, mutta se oli ajoittain ailahteleva pienine pakkasineen lumimyrskyn lisäksi.

The updating of the January 2008 blog trilogy is nearing the end on my Flickr pages. Here are the second to last links; the blog 1, the blog 2 and the blog 3. The period is from the 23rd day to the yesterday evening. The most significant happening during the period was the blizzard of the 24th day and the very colourfull sunrise colours preceeding it. The mild weather type continued all the time, but it was occasionally varying with its small frosts in addition to the blizzard.

Jakso oli erittäin leuto ja vasta eilisestä lähtien talvi on yrittänyt tulla heikosti. Kuvasato oli pilvien suhteen hyvin tasainen ja vähän tylsäkin, mutta muodostunut kuvasarja kuvastaa tunnelmaa oikealla tavalla.

Jakso sisälsi myös myrskyn, mutta täysin yllättäen kohtasin paljon kuvauksellisempaa; utopistisen näytelmän Hämeenlinnassa Vanajaveden äärellä eilen. Tämä tammikuu on ollut taas erittäin hyvä esimerkki siitä, kuinka erittäin monipuolisia ja kauniita jäätilanteita syntyy järville vain sopivan pienten pakkasjaksojen ansiosta. Eli leuto talvi on järvien suhteen kiinnostavampi kuvattava kuin kylmä; kylmä talvi tietäisi lähinnä vain tylsiä lumipeitteisiä jääkansia.



Now it is time for the blog trilogy's Flickr update; January 2008. The added period is from the 15th day to this day's evening. Here are the links; the blog 1, the blog 2 and the blog 3. The period was very mild and only from yesterday onwards winter has tried to come weakly. The crop of photos was cloudwise very even and a bit dull as well, but the formed photo set illustrates the atmosphere in a right way.

The period included also a storm, but completely suddenly I encountered a much more photographic thing; an utopistic play by the Vanajavesi lake in Hämeenlinna yesterday. This January has been again a very good example of the fact, that how a very versitale and beautifull ice situations will form onto lakes only thanks to suitably small frosty periods. In other words a mild winter is more interesting to photograph than a cold winter regarding the lakes; a cold winter would mean mainly just boring snow covered ice layers.

Blogitrilogian blogit ovat uudestaan päivityksessä - The blogs of the blog trilogy are being updated again

Olen viimein aloittanut blogitrilogian itse blogien päivittämisen uudella menetelmällä. Tässä ovat linkit; blogi 1, blogi 2 ja blogi 3. Olen nyt karsinut Maisema - Landsape -blogin päivittämisestä kaikki selittävät tekstit pois ja se on tästä eteen päin vain linkkiblogi (Flickr -kuvat ovat uudella tavalla mukana), jota muut blogit tukevat. Yhdistän kasvillisuuden käyttäytymistä linkkeihin jälkeen päin joskus tulevaisuudessa kasvivalokuvausprojektini avulla; ideoita on... Muissa blogeissa on lyhyet kuvaukset ko. kuvista. Otsikoiden merkitykset korostuvat tilanteiden kuvaamisessa.

Päätin näin, koska näiden blogien lukijat ovat todennäköisesti eniten sellaisia, että he tietävät jo valmiiksi paljon esim. meteorologiasta. Voin siis jättää esim. säätilanteiden tarkat selitykset pois, kun he löytävät helposti tiedon ääreen itsekin. Tärkeä syy on myös se, että minulla ei ole aikaa tehdä pitkiä tekstejä näihin blogeihin. Ei tässä vaiheessa muuta tästä. Käykääpä tutustumassa blogien uusiin olemuksiin!

Päivitys 22.1.2008 klo. 12:15: Huomatkaa, että siinä Helsingin Puistolan säätilastossa on virhe 27 - 28 päivien lämpötiloissa; on mahdotonta, että edellisen päivän minimilämpötila olisi korkeampi kuin seuraavan päivän maksimilämpötila. Heidän mittauksissaan on ilmeisesti ollut katkos kriittisellä hetkellä 27. päivänä ennen puolta yötä (tai heti sen jälkeen); matalapaine aiheutti lämmintä säätä koko alkupäivälle ja voimakasta kylmenemistä loppupäivälle yli puolen yön. Korjasin lukeman blogieni tietoihin 28. päivän kohdalle. Ärsyttävää on myös se, että Wetter 3 -linkkien sääkartoissa on isot katkokset juuri tässä lokakuun 2006 lopulla.



I have finally started updating the the blog trilogy's blogs themselves with a new method. Here are the links; the blog 1, the blog 2 and the blog 3. I have now cut down all explaining texts away from the Maisema - Landsape blog's updating and from now on it is only a link blog (Flickr photos are included in a new way), which the other blogs are supporting. I will connect behaviour of the plants into the links afterwards sometime in the future with the help of my plant photography project; ideas exist... In the other blogs there are short explanations of the photos in question. The meanings of the headlines are getting more profilic, when illustrating the situations.

I decided it this way, because readers of these blogs are propably such people in the most cases, that they know a lot about for example meteorology for a start. So, I can leave away for example specific explanations about the weather situations, because they can find their way to the information by their own as well. An important reason is also the fact, that I don't have time to do long texts onto these blogs. Nothing more about this for now. Please, go to check out the new appearances of the blogs!

Update at the 22nd of January 2008 at 12:15 PM: Please note, that in that weather chart of Puistola, Helsinki there is an error in the temperatures of the 27th and 28th days; it is impossible, that the minimum temperature of the previous day would be higher than the maximum temperature of the following day. Evidently there has been a break in their measurements in the critical moment at the 27th day before the midnight (or immediately after that); the low pressure caused warm weather for all early part of the day and a strong cool down for the rest of the day over the midnight. I corrected the value to the informations of my blogs at the place of the 28th day. Irritating is also the fact, that in the weather maps of the Wetter 3 links there are big breaks just in here at the end of October 2006.

Uuden ajan leutoutta blogitrilogiakuvissa - Mildness of the new era in blog trilogy photos

Viime viikon aikana tein blogitrilogian blogien päivitystä ahkerasti uutta menetelmää yrittäen. En kuitenkaan vielä saanut julkaisua aikaan. Tässä vaiheessa tarjoan tämän kuun uusimmat kuvat Flickr -sivuillani trilogiaa koskien; blogi 1, blogi 2 ja blogi 3. Täydennetty jakso on 7. päivästä tämän päivän iltaan. Sen aikana hyvin leutojen lounaistuulien takia talvi katosi ja syksy palasi tai pitäisikö sanoa kevät tuli (palaan tällä viikolla tuohon vuodenaikojen määrittämisen ongelmaan uuden ajan ilmastossa, joka on jo tulossa yhä enemmän todeksi).

Samanlainen leutous näyttää jatkuvan vielä monta päivää, mutta lauantain tienoilla saattaa tulla muutos voimakkaan matalapaineen myötä... Maa saattaa sulaa siihen mennessä sen verran (nyt muutamia senttejä jäässä), että hämmästyttävä keskitalven istutusmahdollisuus saattaa toteutua arboretumalueellani. Autossani ilmennyt vika täytyy kuitenkin ensin hoitaa; lapion ohella auto on tärkein työvaline arboretumin perustamisessa.



During the last week I did busily the updating of the blog trilogy's blogs trying a new method at the same time. However, I wasn't able to get a publishing done yet. At this phase I offer this month's newest photos on my Flickr pages regarding the trilogy; the blog 1, the blog 2 and the blog 3. The added period is from the 7th day up to this day's evening. During that time along with very mild southwesterly winds winter disappeared and autumn returned or should I say spring came (I will return this week to that problem of defining seasons in the climate of the new era, which is already becoming true furthermore).

A same kind of mildness appears to be continuing yet for several days, but around saturday there might be coming a change along with a strong low pressure... The soil might be melting before that in such a way (now few centimetres frozen), that the astonishing middle winter planting possibility might be happening at my arboretum. However, a fault appeared in my car must be taken care of before that; in addition to shovel, car is the most important tool in establishing an arboretum.

Vuosi 2008 käyntiin pohtimalla projekteja - The year 2008 to be started as deliberating projects

Vuosi 2007 on nyt melkein lopussa. Kokoan sen vuoksi tähän loppuvuoden tilanteista lyhyet kirjoitukset projekteihini liittyen ja mitä ensi vuonna on aikomukseni tehdä. Yleisesti minulle itselleni jäi tästä vuodesta se tyypillinen kuva, että tekemistä olisi niin paljon, mutta aikaa on aivan liian vähän käytössä. Minä olisin ensimmäisten joukossa haalimassa vuorokausiini 24 ylimääräistä tuntia. Koska se ei ole mahdollista, niin olen viime päivinä miettinyt ajankäyttöni helpottamista. Tämä on oleellista myös siksi, koska ensi vuonna tärkeä projektini on myös valmistua viimeinkin maisema-arkkitehdiksi.

En siis ehtinyt aloittaa kasvivalokuvausprojektini kuvien julkaisua tämän vuoden puolella. Tuleva vuosi 2008 on ns. Vihervuosi Suomessa ja sen myötä kasvikuvieni julkaisu on hyvä aloittaa vasta vuoden 2008 alusta. Kuvien määrä tulee olemaan erittäin runsas, joten se tulee olemaan minun näyttävä panokseni Vihervuoden kunniaksi. Kuvista lisää sitten julkaisun alussa.

Blogitrilogia (Maan Povi - The Bosom Of The Earth, Maisema - Landscape, Taivaankansi - Firmament) sää- ja vuodenaikaseurantaan liittyen on ollut eniten jumissa tässä loppuvuodesta. Olen edelleen ottanut kiinnostavia kuvia trilogiaan liittyen, joita julkaisen Flickr -sivuillani. Olen kokeillut itse blogien päivittämisessä uusia helpompia menetelmiä (ei julkaistuja), mutta en ole edelleenkään tyytyväinen. Vielä menee siis aikaa, ennen kuin sen blogipäivittämisen kohtalo selviää.

Arboretumprojektini on ensi vuonna tärkeää, koska taimistossani odottaa paljon taimia istutettavaksi arboretumalueelle. Jos istutus ei lähde sujuvasti käyntiin, niin monista taimista uhkaa tulla ylisuuria ensi kesänä. Jännityksellä odotan sitä, kuinka lauhaksi sää taas tulee nyt alkavan pakkasjakson jälkeen. On siis toiveita, että ilmastonmuutosta myötäillen avautuisi mahdollisuus talvi-istutuskaudelle tämän viikon jälkeen. Käyttäisin sitä hyväkseni nyt ollessani poissa helmikuuhun asti päivätyöstäni; valoisaa aikaa olisi käytettävissä.

Säästä lopuksi, että nyt kylmeneminen on alkanut ja se näkyy etelärannikon sateissa; ne ovat muuttumassa lumeksi (kelikamerat). Jatko näyttää juuri sellaiselta kuin aikaisemmin arvioin. Tosin pakkanen ei ole niin kovaa kuin aikaisemmin näytti; Etelä-Suomen sisämaassakin jäädään -10 asteen leudommalle puolelle (joitakin itäosia lukuun ottamatta...). Lunta voi tulla parin lähipäivän aikana paikoin joitakin senttejä etenkin etelärannikon lähellä suhteellisen lämpimän meren takia. Yhä selkeämmin näyttää kuitenkin siltä, että tulevasta viikonlopusta alkaa taas erittäin leuto jakso, joka saattaa kestää hyvin pitkään. Turha olisi siis vieläkään haaveilla mistään kunnon talvesta.

The year 2007 is now allmost ended. I gather due to that short writings about situations of the year's end regarding my projects and what will be my aim to do next year. Generally there was left that typical picture for me about this year, that there would be so much to do, but there is way too little time to be used. I would be among the first ones to scrape extra 24 hours into my days. Because it isn't possible, therefore I have been thinking during last days about making my time use easier. This is essential also due to the fact, that next year an important project of mine is also to finally craduate as a landscape architect.

So, I didn't had the time to start publishing photos of my plant photography project during this year. The coming year is so called Green Year in Finland and due to that it is good to start publishing my plant photos only at the beginning of the year 2008. The amount of the photos will be very profuse, so that will be my showy contribution to the honor of the Green Year. More about the photos then at the start of the publishing.

The blog trilogy (Maan Povi - The Bosom Of The Earth, Maisema - Landscape, Taivaankansi - Firmament) associating with the weather and season observation has been stucked the most here at the end of the year. I have been taking further interesting photos associating with the trilogy, which I will publish on my Flickr pages. I have been trying new easier methods (not published) in the updating of the blogs themselves, but I'm not satisfied furthermore. So, there will pass yet time, before the fate of that blog updating will be revealed.

My arboretum project will be important next year, because there are a lot of plants waiting in my nursery to be planted onto my arboretum area. If the planting doesn't get under way well, then many of the plants will be at risk for becoming oversized during next summer. I will be waiting with strain about the fact, that how mild the weather will become after now starting frosty period. So, there are wishes, that conforming the climate change there would be opening a possibility to a winter planting season after this week. I would be taking advantage of it now as I am away from my daily work up to February; there would be daylight time to be used.

To the end about the weather, that the getting colder process has now started and it shows in the precipitiation by the southern coast; it is being turned into snow (the weather cameras). The continuation appears just the way as I estimated earlier. Though, frost won't be so hard as it appeared earlier; even in inland areas of southern Finland temperatures will remain in the milder side of -10 C (not counted for some eastern parts...). There may be coming snow some centimetres locally during next couple of days especially near the southern coast due to the relatively warm sea. However, it appears furthermore clearly the way, that from the following weekend onwards there will start again a very mild period, which might last for a very long time. So, it would be no use even now to dream about any proper winter.

Minulla on ollut sen verran kiire edellisen merkinnän jälkeen, että vasta nyt on tilaisuus palata bloggaamaan. Kiirettä on aiheuttanut mm. työssäni projektin päättyminen.

Säästä lopuksi, että hyvin leuto lounais - länsivirtaus näyttää jatkuvan jopa Uudenvuoden päivän yli. Siinä ajassa useita sadealueita liikkuu Suomen yli ja eteläisessä Suomessa ainoastaan sisämaassa olisi mahdollisuus myös räntäsateeseen sillloin tällöin. Seuraavan kerran kuun 25. ja 26 päivän tienoilla. Lumettomuus saattaa siis jatkua laajalla alueella tammikuuhun asti. Vähäinen maan routa ja pienten järvien ohut jää ovat edelleen vaarassa sulaa kokonaan ajoittain; lämpötilat ovat joinakin päivinä +5 asteen tienoilla.

Huomenna palaan bloggaamaan ainakin perinteisen jouluvalotervehdykseni merkeissä. Valoilla on tällaisena lumettomana Jouluna aikaisempaa isompi merkitys täällä Etelä-Suomessa.



I have been so much busy since the previous post, that there is only now an opportunity to return blogging. Hurries have been due for example by a project's end at my work.

About the weather, that a very mild southwesterly - westerly air flow appears to be continuing even over the New Year's day. During that time several precipitation areas will cross Finland and in southern Finland only in inland areas there would be a change for sleet now and then. Next time around the 25th and the 26th days of the month. So, snowless conditions might continue into January in a large area. The minor soil frost and thin layers of ice on small lakes are further at risk for melting completely occasionally; temperatures will be around +5 C during some days.

Tomorrow I will return blogging at least with my traditional christmas light greeting. Lights have a bigger meaning than before at this kind of snowless Christmas here in southern Finland.

Tässä on samalla kaksi linkkiä Helsingin Sanomien uutisiin (A B), jotka kuvaavat hyvin viime aikojen hyvin leutoa säätä. Huomenna heikko pakkanen palaa eteläisimpäänkin Suomeen, mutta sitten lounaassa oleva korkeapaine kierrättää pohjoispuolitseen lauhempaa ilmaa lännestä etenkin Pohjois-Suomeen. Sen vaikutus tuntuu ajoittain noin nollan asteen lämpötiloina eteläisessäkin Suomessa. Tilanne näyttää jatkuvan samanlaisena jopa ensi viikon puolelle asti ja sadetta ei tule tästä päivästä lähtien. Etelä-Suomen lumettomuus on siis nyt varmaa vähintään ensi viikkoon asti.

Here at the same time are two links to the news of Helsingin Sanomat (A B) - the first one tells about the fact, that the climate change will bring repeating winter floods to Finland in the future and the second, that ice layers are now record thin in northern Lapland, in southern Finland most of the lakes are yet iceless -, which are illustrating well the recent very mild weather. During tomorrow a weak frost will return to the southernmost Finland as well, but then the high pressure in the southwest will circulate milder air along its northern side from the west especially into northern Finland. Its influence will be felt as occasional about zero C temperatures in the southern Finland as well. The situation seems to be continuing in the same way even into the next week and there won't be coming precipitation. So, the snowless conditions will continue now for sure in southern Finland at least into the next week.

Tällä viikolla lämpötilat ovat olleet maanantaista lähtien koko ajan pakkasen puolella Etelä-Suomessa lounaisinta osaa lukuun ottamatta; alimmillaan -5 ja -10 asteen välillä sisämaassa. Lunta on satanut ajoittain, mutta varsin vähän. Niinpä laajalla alueella Etelä-Suomessa ei edelleen ole kunnollista lumipeitettä. Maa on jäätynyt jo useita senttejä syvälle ja pienissä järvissä on muutaman sentin paksuiset yhtenäiset jääpeitteet. Isot järvet ja joet ovat osittain avoimia. Suomenlahdella vain sisälahdissa on ohuesti jäätä.

Ensi yönä lounaasta saapuvan leudon ilman edellä saadaan melko runsaasti lunta myös etelä-rannikolla, mutta jo huomenna lämpötilat kohoavat pari astetta nollan yläpuolelle. Ensi viikolla näyttää vallitsevan enimmäkseen leuto sää ja vain tiistain - keskiviikon tienoilla on tilapäisesti heikkoa pakkasta yhden matalapaineen heiketessä Etelä-Suomen yllä. Muutoin länsi - lounaisvirtauksessa saapuu useita sadealueita ja sateita saadaan kaikissa olomuodoissa. Etelärannikolla vesisateet ja lumien sulaminen ovat selvästi sisämaata todennäköisempiä, joten alkavalla viikolla saattaa vihdoinkin muodostua alkutalvelle tyypillinen iso ero sisämaan ja etelärannikon lumipeitteisiin. Sään muodostuessa loppuviikolla ehkä erittäinkin leudoksi, lumet saattavat sulaa pois myös sisämaassa...

Päivitys 2.12.2007 klo. 11:00; Yön ja aamun sadealue toi tällä kertaa eniten lunta etelärannikolle. Esim. Hämeenlinnassa tuli paljon vähemmän lunta kuin Helsingissä (kelikamera- ja sadetutkavertailu). Alkuviikolla tulee siis vielä lisääkin lunta, vaikka leuto sää sulattaa osan pois. Yhä vahvemmin näyttää kuitenkin siltä, että ensi torstaista alkaa viime joulukuun kaltainen erittäin lämmin jakso. Se saattaa kestää pitkään ja tämä luminen talvi-ilo jää lyhyeksi, kun jo sunnuntaihin mennessä lumet sulavat pois.

During this week temperatures have been all the time freezing from monday onwards in southern Finland not counted for the most southwestern parts; at the lowest between -5 C and -10 C in inland areas. It has been snowing occasionally, but rather small amounts.´Therefore in a wide area of southern Finland there isn't further a proper snow cover. The soil has been frozen several centimetres deep allready and small lakes have few centimetres thick layers of even ice. Big lakes and rivers are partially open. In The Gulf Of Finland there is a bit of ice only in inlets.

During the next night in the foreside of a mild air mass arriving from the southwest it will be snowing rather profusely also by the southern coast, but allready tomorrow temperatures will rise couple of degrees above zero C. During the next week there seems to be prevailing mainly a mild weather and only around tuesday - wednesday there will be temporarily weak frost as one low pressure will be weakening over southern Finland. Otherwise in a westerly - southwesterly air flow there will be arriving several precipitation areas and the precipitation will be coming in all forms. By the southern coast rain and the melting of snow will be clearly more propable than in inland areas, so therefore there might finally be forming a big difference to the snow covers between the southern coast and inland areas in the typical way of the early winter. As the weather will be forming perhaps even very mild at the week's end, then the snow might melt away also in inland areas...

Update at the 2nd of December 2007 at 11:00 AM; The precipitation area of the night and morning brought snow the most to the southern coast this time. For example there came much less snow in Hämeenlinna than in Helsinki (the weather camera and the weather radar comparison). So, there will come more snow as well during the early week, allthough the mild weather will melt a part of it away. However, it appears to be further more strongly so, that from next thursday there will start a very warm period resembling the one in last December. It might last for a long time and this snowy winter joy will remain short, as allready until sunday snow will melt away.

Säästä tässä vaiheessa, että tästä päivästä lähtien talvi näyttää saapuvan melko tukevasti jo Etelä-Suomeenkin. Sää kylmenee torstaihin asti koko ajan vaikuttavan pohjoistuulen takia ja lämpötilat ovat alimmillaan silloin myös etelärannikolla -5 ja -10 asteen välillä. Lunta ei tulekaan alkuviikon aikana runsaasti, mutta perjantain - lauantain tienoilla lounaasta lähestyvä matalapaineen osakeskus voi tuoda runsastakin lumisadetta Etelä-Suomeen. Samalla sää kuitenkin lauhtuu ja ainakin etelärannikolla päästään vähän nollan yläpuolelle...

Lopuksi; Ilmatieteenlaitoksen sadetutkakuvat ovat muuttuneet tänään tunnin välein päivittyviksi. Tästä lähtien esim. tämän päiväisiä lumikuuroalueita on hienoa seurata monen tunnin ajalta.

About the weather at this phase, that from this day onwards winter seems to be arriving rather firmly allready to southern Finland as well. The weather will get colder up to thursday due to the all the time influencing northerly wind and temperatures are then at the lowest also by the southern coast between -5 C and -10 C. After all there won't come snow profusely during the early week, but around friday - saturday a low pressure subcenter approaching from the southwest may bring even a lot of snow into southern Finland. However, at the same time the weather will get milder and at least by the southern coast temperatures will rise a bit above zero C...

To the end; The weather radar pictures of Finnish Meteorological Institute have changed today to be updated in one hour interwalls. From now on for example today's snowshower areas are finely to be observed within several hours long time period.

Tässä samalla sääraporttia. Viime viikolla Etelä-Suomeen saatiin tähän mennessä voimakkain maistiainen talvesta. Pakkasta oli muutamana päivänä -5 ja -10 asteen välillä. Lunta satoi vähän heti alkuviikosta, mutta n. 1 cm:ä enempää ei koko viikon aikana tullut esim. pääkaupunkiseudulla. Eilen alkoi leuto jakso ja viime yönä lämpötila kävi +5 asteen tienoilla etelärannikolla. Ensi yönä ja tiistaina päivällä on tilapäisesti heikkoa pakkasta korkeapaineen selänteen takia, mutta sen jälkeen seuraavasta yöstä lähtien lämpötilat ovat etenkin rannikolla koko ajan muutaman asteen plussalla; ajoittain jopa +5 asteen ylitykset ovat mahdollisia. Lauantain tienoilla tapahtuisi taas jonkin verran kylmenemistä, mutta sen voimakkuus ja kesto ovat vielä epäselviä...

Kaikki vähäiset lumet sulivat jo viime yön aikana laajasti myös sisämaa-alueilta, mutta maa on vielä melko paljon jäässä. Saattaa olla, että tiistain jälkeisen leudon sään ja ajoittaisten vesisateiden ansiosta lähes kaikki maa ehtii sulaa ennen viikonlopun mahdollista kylmenemistä. Ehkä näin ainakin rannikolla voi avautua savimaita lukuun ottamatta mahdollisuus tehdä vuoden viimeisiä istutuksia viikonloppuna.

Here at the same time a weather report. During last week southern Finland got the strongest taster so far of the winter. There was frost during few days between -5 C and -10 C. It snowed a bit immediately at the start of the week, but for example around the capital city area there didn't come any more snow than about 1 cm during the whole week. Yesterday started a mild period and last night temperatures peaked at around +5 C by the southern coast. During the next night and at tuesday in the afternoon there will be temporarily weak frost due to a ridge of high pressure, but after that from the next night onwards temperatures will be all the time a few degrees over zero C especially by the coast; occasionally even warmer readings than +5 C are possible. Around saturday there would happen somewhat cooling again, but its strength and duration are yet unclear...

All minor snow covers melted allready during the last night widely also in the inland areas, but the soil is yet rather much frozen. It might be a case, that thanks to the mild weather after tuesday and the occasional rains allmost all of the soil will have time to melt before the possible cooling at the weekend. Perhaps in this way at least by the coast not counted for clay grounds there may come a possibility to do last plantings of the year at the weekend.

Tilannetiedotuksia - Reports of the situation

Kasvukauden päättyminen tietää tästä lähtien muutoksia toimiini ja samalla on alkamassa taas uusi vaihe bloggaamisessani.

Huomenna menen tämän vuoden osalta viimeisen kerran Helsingin Kaisaniemen kasvitieteelliseen puutarhaan tekemään kasvivalokuvausprojektiani. Siellä on vielä yksittäisillä lajeilla lehtiä jäljellä. Valokuvaaminen vähenee tämän jälkeen ja voin alkaa valmistautumaan kasvivalokuvieni julkaisuun. Ensi vuonna puiden ja pensaiden osalta teen vielä ns. paikkaavaa valokuvausta ja harkitsen perennoiden ottamista tarkempaan kuvausohjelmaan.

Blogitrilogiani on joutunut edelleen mietinnän alle. Edelleen jatkuvan valokuvausinnostukseni vuoksi valokuvamateriaalia on syntynyt runsaasti. Niinpä se on aiheuttanut ongelmia blogieni päivityksiin. Tuon edelleen Flickr -sivuilleni uusia kuvia reaaliajassa, mutta blogit ovat nyt vähän aikaa päivittymättä ratkaistessani niille helpommin päivitettävän muodon. Tulen laittamaan myöhemmin kuviani myös eri Flickr -ryhmiin.

Vanhojen merkintöjen kielenkääntö tässä blogissa tapahtuu jossakin vaiheessa talvella. Pidän silloin pitkän tauon kaikesta muusta bloggaamisesta ko. työn ajan. Päivitystahtini on talven ajan hitaampi muutenkin kuin aikaisemmin, mutta tarvittaessa teen edelleen mm. sääraportteja. Siirrän painoa idealististen - kriittisten kirjoitusten tekoon; sekä uusia aiheita että niitä, jotka jäivät kesken viime keväänä - alkukesällä. Kasvikuvajulkaisuihin liittyviä asioita laitan tänne jo tämän vuoden puolella.

Arboretumprojektissani on tiedossa vielä tämän vuoden aikana siementen esikäsittelyyn laittoa ja torjunta-ainekäsittelyjä. Niistä seuraa ajallaan mainintoja.

Päivitys 18.11.2007 klo. 18:05: Kävin Kaisaniemen kasvitieteellisessä puutarhassa valokuvaamassa vasta tänään, kun eilinen meni sen verran toipuessa työnantajani pikkujouluista. Kuvatessa havaitsin nyt, että vielä jopa lähes kesäasussa olivat kastanjaköynnös (Akebia quinata), silkkiviini (Periploca graeca), aitalikusteri (Ligustrum vulgare) ja hopeapensaslaji (Elaeagnus umbellata). Osa lehdistä oli vaurioutunut tämän viikon pakkasissa. Tämän lisäksi ruska oli parhaimmillaan muutamilla atsalealajeilla (Rhododendron sp.); paljon ruskehtavan oranssia - punaista. Näitä päätin käydä tarkistamassa vielä 1 - 2 kertaa loppuvuoden aikana, jotta saan selville niiden lehtien lopulliset varisemisajat ja -tyylit.



The ending of the growing season will mean changes to my activities from now on and at the same time there will start again a new phase in my blogging.

Tomorrow I will go for the last time this year to the botanical garden of Kaisaniemi in Helsinki to do my plant photography project. There are leaves left yet on single species. The photographing will decrease after this and I can start prepairing for the publishing of my plant photos. During next year I will do yet a so called patching up photography in the cases of trees and shrubs and I will consider taking perennials into a more precise photographing programme.

My blog trilogy is forced once again under consideration. Due to my further ongoing photography enthusiasm there has been created a lot of photo material. Therefore it has been causing problems into the updating of the blogs. I will further put new photos into my Flickr pages in real time, but the blogs are now for a while without updates as I will be resolving an easier shape of updating for them. I will put later my photos into different Flickr groups as well.

The translation of the old posts in this blog will happen at some time during the winter. I will then have a long pause from all other blogging during the work in question. My updating pace will be otherwise as well slower than earlier, but I will do further for example weather reports when needed. I will place weight into making of idealistic - critical writings; both new issues and those, which were unfinished last spring - early summer. I will place here matters associating with the plant photo publishing allready during this year.

In my arboretum project there will be yet time during this year for putting seeds into pre-treatments and making pesticide treatments. There will be mentions about them in time.

Update at the 18th of November at 6:05 PM: I visited photographing at the botanical garden of Kaisaniemi in Helsinki only today, because yesterday went so much recovering from the pikkujoulu (little christmas) party of my employer. During the photographing I noticed now, that species yet with even allmost full summer foliage were Five Leaf Akebia (Akebia quinata), Silk Wine (Periploca graeca), European Privet (Ligustrum vulgare) and Autumn Olive (Elaeagnus umbellata). A part of the leaves were damaged in this week's frosts. In addition to this fall colours were in their peak on some azalea species (Rhododendron sp.); a lot of brownish orange - red. I decided to check these out yet for 1 - 2 times during the end of the year, so that I will discover final shedding times and shedding styles of their leaves.

Now I have updated the blog trilogy photos of the last week onto my Flickr pages. Here are the links; the blog 1, the blog 2 and the blog 3. The last week was dramatic here due to the mass murder of Jokela school. I was able to capture an atmosphere associating with that into one photo (or even into many...). During the last week I realized to experiment with an easy way of photographing in the dark even without a tripod. There are experiments associating with that in every photo set. The photos are selected carefully and I will tell you sometimes in the blogs in question (or you can ask allready now in the wish for answers) about these photos. From now on I will take also dark blog trilogy photos.

Here is yet a note; as the winter is nearing the ice conditions of the Finland's sea areas have again been started to update on the pages of Finnish Marine Research Institute (this page is not in english). As we can see, there haven't been ice yet though. The sea water is also warmer than usually.

Blogitrilogian huoltoa - Maintenance of the blog trilogy

Uudistin nyt blogitrilogiaa yhtenäisemmäksi kokonaisuudeksi. Keskusblogin osan ottaa Maisema - Landscape blogi. Muut blogit (Taivaankansi - Firmament ja Maan povi - The Bosom Of The Earth) ovat lisätietoa antavia sivublogeja. Niiden yksittäiset merkinnät ovat lokakuun 2006 alusta lähtien linkitetty tuon keskusblogin merkintöjen sekaan. Linkitysmetodina on kronologinen järjestys ko. blogien aikojen mukaan. Jätin syyskuun 2006 merkinnät ennalleen; jätän sen jakson muistoksi blogitrilogian kehitysvaiheista. Jatkossa blogitrilogian päivitykseen jää viive. Ehkä jätän sen noin vuoden mittaiseksi tai kavennan sitä innostuksen sattuessa ja ajan salliessa.


I renewed now the blog trilogy into a more even whole. The blog Maisema - Landscape is taking a role of a central blog. Other blogs (Taivaankansi - Firmament and Maan povi - The Bosom Of The Earth) are side blogs giving extra information. Their single posts are linked among the posts of that central blog from October 2006 onwards. The linking method will be a chronological order according to the times of the blogs in question. I left the posts of September 2006 entact; I leave that period as a recollection of the blog trilogy's development phases. In the future there will be left a delay in the blog trilogy's updating. Perhaps I will leave it about a year long or I will make it more narrow as an enthusiasm occurs and time lets me.
