Talvi yrittää, mutta taipuu hitaasti - Winter tries, but will bend slowly

Tässä vaiheessa suuntaan katseeni kohti alkavan viikon säätä, ennen kuin aloitan kuvien julkaisun. Tämän viikon lopulla Etelä-Suomessa on vallinnut aurinkoinen pakkassää (lämpötilat alimmillaan -5 ja -10 asteen välillä), mutta ilman lunta; vähäinen lumikerros sublimoitui pois. Aikaisemmin näytti siltä, että heti tästä viikonlopusta alkaisi leuto sää. Nyt leuto jakso alkaa kuitenkin vähän myöhemmin ja hitaasti. Liike leudompaan suuntaan alkaa sadealueiden marssilla ja se tietää pitkästä aikaa kunnolla lumisadetta myös etelärannikolle, koska lämpötilat pysyvät vielä parisen astetta pakkasella. Ensimmäinen sadealue on saapumassa parhaillaan esim. Helsinkiin ja nämä linkit (A B) auttavat tilanteen seuraamisessa.

Ensi viikolla Atlantilla ja Länsi-Euroopassa oleva laaja matalapaine osakeskuksineen näyttää yhä muotoutuvan niin, että viikon loppua kohden lämpöasteiden mahdollisuus kasvaa ja sateet muuttuvat enemmän vedeksi. Näin tapahtuu etenkin etelä-ja lounaisrannikoilla sulan meren lämmittävän vaikutuksen takia. Niinpä alkuviikolla satava muutaman sentin vahvuinen lumipeite on vaarassa sulaa taas kokonaan ehkä jo lauantain - sunnuntain tienoilla etenkin rannikkoseuduilla... Leudon jakson pituus ja vahvuus ensi viikonlopusta eteen päin ratkaisee sen, onko lumi vieläkään pysyvää edes sisämaassa. Joka tapauksessa viime aikainen pakkanen on jäädyttänyt maan sen verran monta senttiä syvään, että ainakaan yli viikkoon ei kannata haaveilla siitä talvi-istutusmahdollisuudesta.



At this phase I set my view to the weather of the starting week, before I will start the photo publishing. During this week's end there has been prevailing a sunny and frosty weather (temperatures at the lowest between -5 C and -10 C) in southern Finland, but without snow; a minor snowcover sublimated away. Earlier it appeared, that immediately from this weekend onwards a mild weather would start. However, now the mild period will start a bit later and slowly. The movement towards a milder direction will start with a march of precipitation areas and it will mean a proper snowing after a long time also by the southern coast, because temperatures will stay yet couple of degrees frosty. The first precipitation area is arriving at this moment for example to Helsinki and these links (A B) will help at following the situation.

During the next week a wide low pressure with its subcenters over Atlantic and western Europe appears to be shaping further in such a way, that towards the end of the week a possibility for above zero C temperatures will rise and the precipitation will turn more into rain. This will happen especially by the southern and southwestern coasts due to the warming effect of the unfrozen sea. Therefore the few centimetres thick snowcover to be fallen during the start of the week will be at risk for melting completely away again perhaps already around saturday - sunday especially by the coastal areas... A longevity and strength of the mild period from the next weekend onwards will resolve the fact, that is the snow even now a permanent kind even in inland areas. In any case recent frosts have been freezed the soil so many centimetres deep, that at least for more than a week's time it isn't worth dreaming about that possibility of the winter planting.
