Tässä on linkit (A B) kuviin siemenistä, jotka sain viime kuussa Arboretum Mustilalta ja Exotic Gardenilta. Otin kuvat tällä viikolla ja joukossa on joitakin samoja lajeja kuin mitä minulla on ollut aikaisemminkin. Nyt olen päättänyt siementen kylvöstä tänä keväänä ja laitoin noihin ko. kuviin tiedot niiden tämän hetken käsittelyistä; jatkossa muutan tietoja prosessin edetessä. Siirsin myös aikaisemmasta lämpökäsittelystä nämä lajit kylmäkäsittelyyn; hopealehmus (Tilia tomentosa), amerikanlehmuslajike (Tilia americana "Redmond"), (kukka)kanukka (Cornus florida), kanukkalaji (Cornus kousa v. chinensis), seitsensormiaralia (Kalopanax septemlobus).
Näin suuren määrän kylvöjä tein mahdolliseksi päättämällä seuraavaa arboretum projektissani; viime aikaisten ennätyslämpimien säiden innoittamana ja siten ilmastonmuutosta ennakoiden haluan keskittyä nyt aikaisempaa enemmän harvinaisten ja talvenarkojen lajien kasvattamiseen. Sen vuoksi päätin nyt sen, että tuhoan taimistoltani osan yleisistä ja tutuista lajeista, koska aika ja resurssit ovat rajalliset ja sen vuoksi en voi kasvattaa kaikkea. Saatan jonakin vuonna palata uudestaan niihin tutumpiin lajeihin (kerron tuhottujen lajien nimet myöhemmin toimenpiteen jälkeen).
Aikaisemmin tällä viikolla olisi ollut taas mahdollisuus tehdä sulan maan taimistotöitä, mutta aikatauluni ei antanut myöten tällä kertaa. Eilen illalla taimistollani ja täällä Espoon Tapiolassa satoi muutama sentti lunta ja lähipäivien kylmän sään takia lumi pysyy maassa estäen kevättöiden aloittamisen. Uusimpien tietojen mukaan tämä pieni talvi jatkuu ainakin alkavan viikon loppuun vähäisestä lauhtumisesta huolimatta alkuviikon kylmimmän vaiheen jälkeen...
Here are the links (A B) to the photos of the seeds I received last month from Arboretum Mustila and Exotic Garden. I took the photos this week and among there are some same species, which I have had before as well. Now I have decided about the sowing of the seeds this spring and I placed onto those photos in question information about their treatments at this moment; in the future I will change the information, as the process is proceeding. At the same time I removed these species to the cold treatment from the earlier warm treatment; Silver Linden (Tilia tomentosa), an American Basswood cultivar (Tilia americana "Redmond"), Flowering Dogwood (Cornus florida), Chinese Flowering Dogwood (Cornus kousa v. chinensis), Prickly Castor-oil Tree (Kalopanax septemlobus).
I made possible this large amount of sowing by deciding the following in my arboretum project; as inspired by the recent record warm weather and therefore foreseeing the climate change I want now to concentrate more than before to cultivating rare and winter sensitive species. Due to that I decided now to destroy a part of common and familiar species at my nursery, because time and resources are limited and therefore I cannot cultivate everything. I might return again in some year to those more familiar species (I will tell the names of the destroyed species later, when the measure has been taken place).
Earlier this week there would have been a possibility again to do nursery tasks of melted soil, but my schedule didn't give room for that this time. During yesterday evening at my nursery and here in the district of Tapiola in Espoo it snowed couple of centimetres and due to the cold weather of the coming days the snow will remain on the ground as preventing the start of spring tasks. According to the newest information this small winter will continue at least to the end of the starting week despite a minor warming after the coldest phase during the early part of the week...
