Nyt aloitan taas tiiviimmän bloggaamisen. Aluksi kerron viime viikonloppuna tapahtuneesta takaiskusta; lauantaina nykyinen digikamerani meni lopullisesti epäkuntoon. Niinpä tänään työpäivän jälkeen on ohjelmassani uuden kameran osto, jotta valokuvausprojekteihini ei tulisi liian suurta keskeytystä. Kameran viallisuus harmitti etenkin eilen ja tänä aamuna, kun kuvattavaa olisi ollut myöhään eilen illalla olleen ukkosen (Helsingin seudulla) takia; pilvitilanteet ja kaatosateen tekemät kuviot maan eri pinnoilla. Ukkonen oli varsin voimakas ja salamointia riitti parisen tuntia puolen yön molemmin puolin (tässä, tässä ja tässä on kolme juttua aiheesta). Ukkostavaa ilmaa on onneksi tiedossa pariksi seuraavaksikin päiväksi Etelä-Suomeen, kun etelästä ja kaakosta pyrkii edelleen kosteaa ja helteistä ilmamassaa.

Yllä olevat kuvat näyttävät viime viikolla tekemiäni arboretumtöitä. Alimmassa kuvassa on taimipenkistä purkitettuja taimia ja keskimmäisessä taimilaatikosta purkitettuja taimia. Ylimpänä on kukkiva tunnelmakuva, jonka otin taimistossani noiden taimien purkittamisiltana 24. tätä kuuta. Viime viikolla sain viimein tehtyä loppuun myös arboretumalueen kevätlannoituksen. Nyt lannoiterakeet ovat liuenneet runsaissa sateissa hyvin.

Kasvukauden tilanteesta; edellisen merkintäni jälkeen se on edistynyt edelleen ainakin viikon edellä tavanomaisesta aikataulusta. Sää on ollut keskimäärin tavanomaisen lämmin ja kesä on alkanut Etelä-Suomessa määritelmän mukaan (vuorokauden keskilämpötila yli +10 astetta) tavanomaiseen aikaan vähän tämän kuun puolivälin jälkeen. Parina viime päivänä sää on ollut selvästi lämpenemässä ja esim. viime yön ukkosen aikaan lämpötila oli Espoon Tapiolassa n. +17 - +18 astetta. Tänään auringon paistaessa odotellaan tämän vuoden ensimmäistä +25 asteen ylitystä... Kasvien kasvu etenee siis parhaassa mahdollisessa säässä; lämpöä ja kosteutta erinomaisesti.


Now i start again more intensive blogging. At first i tell you about the backlash that happened last weekend; at saturday my present digital camera broke down for good. Therefore after work today my schedule includes buying of a new camera in order to maintain my photographing projects without too long interruption. The defectiveness of my camera annoyed especially yesterday and this morning, because there would have been things to photograph due to a thunderstorm (around Helsinki area) late yesterday evening; cloud situations and marks on different surfaces of the ground caused by the pouring rain. The thuderstorm was rather severe and there was lightning for about two hours around midnight (here, here and here are three finnish language stories about the matter; pictures are telling a lot though). Luckily there is thundery weather in the forecast for the next couple of days as well in southern Finland, as there are pushing further hot and humid air mass from the south and southeast.

The pictures above are showing my arboretum tasks i did last week. In the lowest photo there are plants put into containers from a plant bed and in the middle photo there are plants put into containers from a plant box. At the top there is a flowering mood picture, which i took at my nursery in the evening of those container putting tasks at the 24th of this month. Last week i finally finished also the spring fertilizing of the arboretum area. Now the fertilizer grains have been dissolving well in the heavy precipitation.

About the situation of the growing season; since my last post it has been proceeding further at least one week ahead of a normal schedule. On an average the weather has been usually warm and according to the definition (daily average temperature more than +10 C) summer has started in southern Finland at an usual time a bit after mid May. During couple of last days the weather has been warming up clearly and for example at the time of the last night's thunderstorm the temperature was around +17 C to +18 C in the district of Tapiola in Espoo. Today as the sun shines we are expecting the temperature to top +25 C for the first time this year... So the growing of the plants is proceeding in the best possible weather; warmth and moisture excellently.
