Ryhmäruusun nuoria lehtiä - Young leaves of a so called group rose.


Eilen oli siis Vappupäivä ja päätin tehdä merkinnän ko. päivänä havaitsemistani seikoista, kun kävin eilen illansuussa kävelylenkillä. Esille nousi kolme selvää aihetta; Vappuyön pakkanen ja sen vaikutukset, juhlinnasta aiheutunut roskaaminen ja kasvukauden edistyminen etuajassa huolimatta viileästä säästä. Näitä kuvaamaan laitoin tuohon ylle kolme kuvaa, jotka otin eilen Espoon Tapiolassa ko. kävelylenkillä.

Ennustettu yöpakkanen jäi onneksi melko heikoksi. Etelä-Suomessa oli yleisesti vain pari - kolme astetta pakkasta eikä -5 astetta kylmempiä lukemia ollut. Maan pinnassa hallanaroilla paikoilla tosin oli ankaraa hallaa eli lämpötilat olivat siinä paikoin jopa n. -5 astetta tai kylmempää. Alimmassa kuvassa on eräs ryhmäruusulajike ja sen alkanutta kasvua. Kasvusta nähdään, että paikalla ollut parin asteen pakkanen ei vaikuttanut lehtiin. Tuo punertava väri on lajikkeen tyypillinen nuorten lehtien kevätväri ja se ei johdu pakkasesta. Pakkanen saattaa tosin vähän voimistaa punaista sävyä kaikilla punertavaa kevätväriä muodostavilla lajeilla, koska värin aiheuttavat antosyaniinit voivat lisääntyä kasvia rasittavissa olosuhteissa. Joka tapauksessa pakkasvaurioita ei juuri ilmennyt, kuten voidaan havaita myös ylimmän kuvan rusokirsikan kukinnasta. Kasvit todellakin sietävät yllättävän hyvin pakkasta joitakin poikkeuksia lukuun ottamatta.

Toinen Vapun aikana ilmennyt seikka on räikeä osoitus siitä, mikä länsimaisessa kulttuurissa on mennyt vikaan ainakin ja myös täällä Suomessa. Kyseessä on järjetön ja tyystin piittaamaton ympäristön roskaaminen. Keskimmäisessä kuvassa Tapiolan keskustassa laajalla alueella paikat oli sotkettu esim. ruiskutettavalla serpentiinillä kuvan tapaan. Tuo patsaskin oli sotkettu niin ylös kuin mahdollista (itse asiassa huippuun asti). Nuorison sotkemiseen kuului myös virtsaaminen ja oksentelu minne tahansa sattuu. Länsimainen kulttuuri kasvattaa siis nykyään ihmisistä villejä eläimiä yhä enenevässä määrin, koska olen havainnut tällaisen sotkemisen lisääntyneen vuosi vuodelta. Välinpitämätöntä sotkemista on tietyillä paikoilla jopa kaikkina arkipäivinäkin; esim. kaikki syömisestä ja juomisesta jääneet pakkaukset jätetään lojumaan, vaikka vieressä olevissa roskakoreissa on vielä tilaa. Onneksi vielä jotkut osaavat juhlia siististi, mutta roskasakit lisääntyvät koko ajan.

Itseäni ärsyttää suuresti tällainen ympäristön tuhoaminen ja piittaamattomuus sitä kohtaan. Aivan totta, monet lastenne vanhemmat; teidänkin lapsista jotkut voivat olla tällaisen sotkun syypäitä jopa Tapiolassa - puutarhakaupungissa! Haluan julistaa sodan tällaista vastaan ja aikaisemmin mainitsemani bioesteettinen propaganda on yksi osa sitä. Tavallaan kaikki toimintani blogeissani on juuri sitä eli antikulttuurillisen ja sieluttoman rumuuden vastustamista ja ko. välinpitämättömien ja moraalittomien ilmapiirien ja asenteiden tuhoamiseksi tähtäävän vaihtoehdon esille tuomista monin tavoin oman alani ja persoonani lähtökohdista.

Kolmas seikka on positiivinen kuvaus tämän kevään kasvukaudesta ja samalla kovaa bioesteettistä propagandaa. Kasvukausi on siis edellä tavanomaisesta aikataulusta ja se voidaan määritellä melko tarkkaan ylimmästä kuvasta. Rusokirsikka on jo aloittanut kukintansa. Normaaleina keväinä sen kukinta osuu tällä paikalla Äitienpäivän tienoille ja ero tavanomaiseen oli siten eilen yhä melkein kaksi viikkoa kylmästä sääjaksosta huolimatta. Havaitsin myös sen, että auringon paisteella on tässä vaiheessa vuotta jo vahva vaikutus kasvun edistymiseen, vaikka itse ilman lämpötila on ollut muutoin niin kylmä, että lämpötilojen keskiarvon mukaan kasvukausi on ollut Vapun aikana keskeytynyt. Nämäkin kukat ovat avautuneet hitaasti parin aikaisemman päivän aikana kylmyydestä huolimatta.

Bioesteettinen propaganda tarkoittaa yhtenä esimerkkinä monista ylimmän kuvan tapaan positiivisten kauneusarvojen esittämistä ja käyttämistä mahdollisimman näyttävästi ja tässä kuvaparikontrasti tukee asiaa keskimmäisen kuvan kanssa. Puisto- ja kaupunkikulttuurilla on nyt ja tulevaisuudessa todella isoja haasteita vastata näihin nykyisen elämänmenon huonoihin ilmentymiin. On täysin selvää, että etenkin urbaanissa kulttuurissa ihmiset ja heistä etenkin monet nuoret ovat enenevässä määrin erkaantumassa hyvien ympäristöarvojen parista ja luonnosta ylipäätään. Monet ihmiset eivät selvästi tunne olevansa kotonaan nykyisessä ympäristössä (kulttuurissa) ja siten sitä voidaan huolettomasti sotkea ja tuhota.

Suomen puisto- ja puutarhakulttuuri elää nykyään maailmassa, jossa yhtäältä visuaalisuus, informaation määrä ja siten tietoisuus eri asioista (myös ympäristöseikat) ovat totaalisesti suurempaa ja intensiivisempää luokkaa kuin vaikkapa 50 vuotta sitten ja olemukseltaan ennen näkemätöntä ja kokematonta ihmiskunnan historiassa. Toisaalta juuri välinpitämättömyys, liika yksilöllistyminen, ns. kovat arvot jne. ovat järkyttävällä tavalla osa jokapäiväistä arkea ja ne tuntuvat pahenevan. Ilmastonmuutoksen lisäksi puisto- ja puutarhakulttuurin toinen haasteellinen uudistumisen ja kehittymisen paikka on siis myös sopeutuminen ennen näkemättömällä tavalla vaikuttavaan länsimaiseen ja globalisoituvaan kulttuuriin ja sen jatkuvasti lisääntyviin sairaisiin ilmenemismuotoihin. Ehkä esim. bioesteettinen propaganda tuo tähänkin joitain ravistavia ja uusia näkökantoja... Jatkan siis vielä aiheesta analyysiä.



So yesterday was "Vappu" (The First Of May) and i decided to make a post about the matters i noticed, when a went for a walk towards yesterday evening. There rose three clear matters in the fore; The frost of the "Vappu" night and its influences, the littering caused by the festivities and the growing season being proceeded further ahead of schedule despite the cool weather. To illustrate these i put three pictures above. I took them during the walk in question in the district of Tapiola in Espoo.

The forecasted night frost remained fortunately rather weak. There was commonly in southern Finland only couple of degrees of frost and readings colder than -5 C didn't appear. However on the surface of the ground in frost sensitive areas there was severe ground frost and temperatures were locally about -5 C or colder on there. In the lowest picture there's one Rose cultivar and its beginned growth. We can see from the growth, that the leaves weren't affected by the couple of degrees frost, which appeared on the scene. That reddish colour is a typical spring colour of this cultivar's young leaves and it isn't due to the frost. The frost may increase a bit that reddish tone though in the cases of every species forming reddish spring colour, because the anthocyanins causing the colour may increase in the circumstaces straining the plant. In any case there hardly didn't appear frost damages, which can be observed also from the blooming of the Sargent Cherry in the uppermost picture. Plants really can be surprisingly frost tolerant not counted for some exceptions.

The second matter that appeared during the "Vappu" was a clear indication of what has become a vise in the western culture at least and also here in Finland. It is the question of a senseless and totally indifferent littering of environment. In the middle picture in the center of Tapiola in a large area, places were messed up for example with a spray serpentine in the way of the picture. That statue as well was messed up as up as possible (all the way to the top, actually). The messing up of the youth was also included with peeing and vomiting no matter where. So today the western culture brings up ingreasingly more wild animals off people, because i have been noticing this kind of littering to increase year by year. There are indifferent messing up on certain places even during every work day as well; for example every package left from eating and drinking are being left behind on the ground despite there's yet room in the litterbins nearby. Fortunately yet some people can party neatly, but trash gangs are becoming more common all the time.

I am largely irritated by this kind of damaging of environment and indifference towards it. Very true, you many parents of your children; some of your children can be responsible for this kind of littering even in Tapiola - The garden city / town! I want to declare war against this and the bio esthetic propaganda i mentioned earlier is a part of that. In a way all activity of mine in my blogs is just that. In other words resisting of an anticultural and soulless uglyness and bringing out in many ways of an alternative from the starting points of my profession and my personality to destroy these indifferent and inmoral atmospheres and attitudes.

The third matter is a positive illustration of this spring's growing season and at the same time a hard bio esthetic propaganda. So the growing season is ahead of an average schedule and it can be estimated rather precisely from the uppermost photo. Sargent Cherry has allready started its blooming. During normal springs its blooming happens around Mother's Day (the second sunday of May in Finland) at this place and the advance compared to the average was therefore yesterday further allmost two weeks despite the cold spell of weather. I noticed also, that the shine of the sun has allready a powerfull influence to the proceeding of the growth at this time of the year, allthough the actual air temperature has otherwise been so low, that the growing season has been interrupted around "Vappu" time (the turn of the month) according to mean temperatures. These flowers as well have been slowly opening during last couple of days despite the cold weather.

As an example of many the bio esthetic propaganda means in the way of the uppermost picture displaying and using positive beauty values in the most impressively ways possible and here the contrast of the pair of photos supports the matter with the middle picture. The park and city culture have both really big challenges now and in the future to answer for with these bad appearances of the modern lifestyle. It is totally clear, that especially in an urban culture people and especially many young people of them are increasingly being departed further away from good environmental values and from nature in general. Many people don't clearly feel at home in the present environment (culture) and therefore it can carelessly be messed up and destroyed.

The park and garden culture of Finland is living today in the world, where in one hand visuality, the amount of information and therefore consciousness about things (also environmental) are totally in a bigger and a more intensive grade than for example 50 years ago and its nature has never seen and experienced before in the history of mankind. On the other hand just the indifference, too much individuality, so called hard values and so on are in a shocking way a part of the everyday life and they seem to be worsening. So in addition to the climate change the second challenging thing of the park and garden culture to renewe and evolve itself is to adapt to the western and globalizing culture influencing in the way never seen before and to its further increasing sick appearances. Maybe for example bio esthetic propaganda will bring to this as well some shaking and new points of view... So i will continue to make an analysis of the matter.
