Peruuntunut talvisää ja pari ilmoitusta - The cancelled wintry weather and couple of announcements

Tällä viikolla arboretumprojektini ei ole edennyt suunnitelmien mukaan, koska olen pohtinut kasvivalokuvausprojektini kohtaloa kuvien julkaisun suhteen. En ole siis käynyt viimeistelemässä arboretumalueen lannoitusta enkä tekemässä töitä taimikasvatuspaikallani. Niinpä niistä ei ole nyt raportoitavaa. Kylvöksistäni voin kertoa, että moni laji on jo alkanut itää hyvin sisäkasvatuksessaan; ensi viikolla laitan tänne kuvallisen raportin itämisestä. Ensin palaan huomenna kertomaan kasvivalokuvausprojektiini liittyvistä asioista.

Säästä mainitsen tässä yhteydessä vielä, että ennustettu takatalvi jäi tulematta blogeissani esiintyville alueille Etelä-Suomessa. Kirjoitan tätä Hämeenlinnassa ja täälläkin on satanut käytännössä vain vettä; ehkä sekin on ilmastonmuutoksen merkki, kun ennustetut kylmät sääjaksot toteutuvat ennustettua lämpimämpinä... Paikoin on kuitenkin satanut räntää Länsi-Suomessa. Melko runsas sade on tehnyt kahden viime päivän aikana hyvää alkaneelle kasvulle ja nyt myös arboretumalueeni lannoiterakeet ovat alkaneet liueta hyvin. Sen verran viileää sää on ollut eilen ja tänään, että kasvukausi on ollut tilapäisesti keskeytynyt vuorokauden keskilämpötilan jäätyä vähän alle +5 asteen ainakin tänään. Pilvet ja tuuli ovat pitäneet yöpakkaset kuitenkin poissa.

Huomisesta lähtien sää taas lämpenee ja ensi viikolla saattaa olla tiedossa jälleen jopa kesäisiä lämpötiloja; n. +20 astetta... Niinpä kaikki luonto pääsee tämän sateisen jakson jälkeen jatkamaan kasvuaan erinomaisesti ja edelleen 2 - 3 viikkoa etuajassa tavanomaisesta aikataulusta. Huolimatta edelleen jatkuvasta hallan vaarasta alavilla mailla tiedossa on siis hyviä hetkiä puutarha- ja puistotöihin, joita kannattaa hyödyntää.



During this week my arboretum project hasn't been proceeding according to plans, because i have been thinking about the fate of my plant photographing project considering the publishing of the photos. So i haven't been finishing the fertilizing task in the arboretum area and i haven't been working in my nursery. Therefore there's nothing to report about them now. I can tell you about my sowings, that many species have allready been started to germinate well in their indoors cultivation; during the next week i'll put here a report with pictures about the germination. Firstly i'll return here tomorrow to tell about the matters associating with my plant photographing project.

I mention yet about the weather at this time, that the forecasted late wintry weather didn't come to the areas in southern Finland appearing in my blogs. I write this in Hämeenlinna and here as well the precipitation comes only in the form of rain in practise; may be it's also a sign of the climate change, that forecasted cold weather periods will become true warmer than they were forecasted... There have been coming sleet locally in western Finland though. The rather profuse rain have done good for the started growth during the last two days and now also the fertilizer grains have been started to dissolve well in my arboretum area. The weather have been cool in such a way yesterday and today, that the growing season have been interrupted temporarily, as the daily mean temperature have been staying a bit below +5 C during at least today. However the clouds and the wind have been keeping nightfrosts away.

The weather will warm up again starting tomorrow and during the next week there might be again even summery temperatures; about +20 C... Therefore after this rainy period all nature will have a chance to continue growing in an excellent way and further 2 to 3 weeks ahead of an average schedule. So despite a continuing risk of ground frost on low terrains there'll be fine moments for garden and park works, which are worth to take advantage of (in Finland).
